Words from the Winner:
In the year of 2001, my parents gave me the opportunity to buy a new
car. My choices were narrowed down to an 01 Prelude Type SH or an 01
Accord Coupe V6 EX. Since it wasn't my money, my parents had a say in
which one I had to get. They chose the AV6; it didn't bother me
because I loved both cars. Today, I look back on the decision and I'm
happy with it. We got it brand new in June with probably 30 miles on
it with the stock chrome bling bling Honda wheels (some of you
remember).
I had some intentions of modifying the car, but I was really clueless
on where to start other than the typical neon lights and loud exhaust.
Not until September of 2001, I stumbled onto AccordV6.com (OG
BABY!!!). Immediately, I knew it was my home. I learned almost
everything I could learn about my car on this site.
After my 'changing-all-the-interior-lights-to-blue-everyone-goes-through-it'
stage, I started taking it more seriously. I threw out my altezza tail
lights and picked up a Black Widow 1 body kit, got it painted, and put
it on. I thought it looked soo good that it made you wanna slap yo
mama. I thought I was baller status at that age, but my parents
thought otherwise when they came home to see a body kit on their new
car. My parents and I fight all the time about modding my car. We are
totally opposite on that ordeal. I finally got them to let me keep it with an ultimatum that I'd do good in school. Unfortunately, only a
month or two after that happens, I get into an accident that would set
my car and I back for a while. I thought that was it for my modding
days.
A few months later, I jumped back into it. I knew my parents wouldn't
let me get anything like what I had before. I looked into a lip kit
and a more subtle exhaust because I didn't think the GReddy MXs would
flow with a lip kit being so big. I knew about the OEM lip kit, but I
wanted something different, something that would make me stand out
from all the others. I did some research and found out that
'Blazin036' and 'tha eklectiq' from this site had pioneered the Mugen
side skirts (from what I know). It took me a while to even get them
because they were so rare at the time, but I knew I wanted those.
Next, I wanted a rear lip to finish the kit. I did some more research
and learned that a lip kit for the 01-02 was almost non-existent, but
I did find that '02accordse' custom fitted his OEM rear lip. I liked
how his looked and went with it. I replaced the GReddy exhaust with
Comptechs. As for the front lip, I saw 'tu_clean' aka 'sweaty's' car
for the first time in some pics. His car was the one car that inspired
me to go for this clean look, which is probably why I got rid of my
18" RH CR wheels for the 19" Racing Hart M5 3 piece wheels. I wanted
the Type R lip like his, but ended up getting the Mugen lip because of
some minor complications (*cough*fate*cough*). I ended up liking it
better anyway. After my lip kit and exhaust, my mods came in with a
quickness and a new look was forming.
I recently got into the show scene because of none other than V6P.net
(Import Motion in Sacramento, 06/2003). I loved it and wanted to keep
doing it because of how much fun it was. I jumped onto a Nor Cal show
team,
Team Illusive, but because things weren't working out for me and the
way I wanted, I left after a few months. Several months later, my good
friend offered me a spot on his team, Team Jinsoku. I missed the show
scene and decided to take the opportunity.
Slowly, yet surely, my car came up. It's come a long way and I still have many, many plans for it. The car as you see it now is not in
completion. For now, I will have fun with it and keep the AV6 pride.
Shout Outs & Special Thanks:
My Parents - Thanks for their support in school, life, and obviously
for the car. They and I have put up a lot having to do with my car. I
thank them for enduring all of the 'pain.'
My brother and sister - Thanks to them for always having my back and hiding my mods around the house, so my parents wouldn't find out. lol. Imagine hiding a Black Widow kit in your house.
Johnny Ngo & Team Jinsoku - www.jinsoku.com - Thanks to Jinsoku for
your guys' help and support. Thanks to Johnny for always informing me,
helping me, and being a friend.
Team Illusive - www.teamillusive.com - Thanks to my former team for
jump starting my show addiction. They rock!
Ryan Ayer aka rYan01Av6 - Thanks for always letting me use your garage
homie and more seriously, for being a good friend! YEA BOOY!!!
V6Performance.net and its members - The dopest site on the internet.
Without this site and all of its VTEC'in members, I'd still be asking
if my friend's Celica V4 could beat me or not. I've made a lot of friends on here
throughout the years, locally and nationally, ESPECIALLY *Insert Name
Here*! This person is so cool. Although I don't think my car is
anywhere up to par with any of the nominees I contended against, I
really appreciate those of you that nominated and voted for me. It
really is an honor. W00t V6P fo lyfe!
More Thanks: Vic Martino from Solo, all my Nor Cal AV6 homies,
Christian Dumlao & Team Paksiw, Justin Muro, Toby & Jen Hirsch,
Garrett Enright, Ed Kwong, JRD Imports, Brian Kim, Mike Pham, the
V6P-behind-the-scenes people who take the time out of their own
schedule to make ROTM happen (Moatassim Palwala and Francis Fung)
and...thanks to everyone else that's made a difference in the making
of my car!
