I only use 1 P2R thermal gasket for the manifold spacer and have it on the top and stock gasket on the bottom. I read on one of the IM spacer threads about someone's experience with the bottom thermal gasket getting deformed.
Yup, too much heat getting trapped, putting it on top prevents direct contact with the runners which lets it stay cooler, while keeping your IM just as cool.
Don't worry about porting the TB. Apparently there's only about 2mm safe zone of porting anyway, and unless your build is 450-500+ there's no need.
If you do want to however, I've done port and polished TBs for that generation.
I can't find my pictures of that TB finished since it's a rare job, but yeah that one is out 2mm, with a polish before machining, then a final surface polish after machining, with the spindle cut down, the screws shortened, then we finished that wih a polished and knife edged center plate to go with the PnP manifold, and PnP runners.
The stock A4 Manifold sucks compared to the magnesium one.
Just bite the bullet and get it new. I will post all of the part numbers, and you can part it out as cheap as possible. I got mine from Bernardi Parts.
