I decided to vinyl wrap the top of my rear window today - where tint always seems to bubble due to those tiny dots

Today I got the hood wrapped

Looks like a fresh paint job! haha I love it. I can't decide if I want to attack the rear bumper next or the two front fenders...hmmm choices, choices...

Don't mind how dirty the dip is lol but here are pictures of the wrap in the sunlight - the sheen from the pearl is so bright I was being blinded! Muhahaha I love it

Today I was able to get the driver door done as well as cut out the piece for the driver rear quarter panel. I had no idea that the door was going to take me as long as it did - I was hoping to get both done today, but there ended up being so many intricate detailed parts (i.e. door handle) so it took longer than expected.

I had to do an inlay for the inside of the door handle:

I laid the door smooth as butter and with no heat! Hmmm maybe I'm actually getting better at this whole wrap thing?

It finally matches the fender, mirror and side skirt! haha

I gotta ask Ben but are you doing this solo or do you have an extra set of hands helping lay down these big sheets?

I finished the RQP today! It definitely had its tricky spots, esp. around the gas tank, but I managed to git 'er done! At the time I found myself cussing myself out for even starting this project...I can tell it's starting to get to me...and I made one promise today that I plan on keeping and that is that I will NEVER dip another one of my cars for as long as I live! LOL The overspray and aftermath of cleanup in all of the deepest, darkest nooks and crannies imaginable. I think the longest process in this entire project is cleaning & prepping! ha.

Anyhow, <endrant> let's get on to the pictures shall we??

Real impressive wit the wrap man. so the old white you had ripped off is that plasti dip stuff? With the vinyl wrap, it's not sticky on one side? You just throw a heat gun at it to make it adhere to the body or somethin and get rid of air bubbles?

like the pearl in the vinyl too. is it specific oem color from a car, or they just make it that way? just curious, i dont know anything about vinyl wrapping.

Both. I just did my roof the other day but the results are worth it.

Over the past two days I got the rear bumper wrapped. I must say that this was by far the hardest piece that I've wrapped yet!!! O_o Due to the contours of the rear bumper, a lot of stress and tension develops as you make the bend on both sides, as well as the deep convex curves up near the top and middle (where the trunk lid closes). I am just happy to finally have it done.

Knifeless tape down around the bottom of the HFP lip:

Cut perfectly down the middle, for two 2.5' pieces of 114" vinyl - done by hand!

Here you can see the amount of tension developing on the upper & lower portions:

The tricky mid-section but I must say it came out really good!

Did you need to have any seams to do the ends of the rocker panels because of the sharp angles?

I am going to wrap my rockers black as accent on my silver coupe - have Avery Dennison wrap and a gun with tools on the way

Great thread BTW !
