Hondata FlashPro (07-08 TL/TL Type S)

Might as well make a new thread for this. It's available only for the 07-08 TL and TL Type S at this point. However, I wouldn't rule out the possibility for compatibility with the 04-06 TL, which would mean all we would have to do is buy that ECU plus the FlashPro. If this becomes available for us, this would be the biggest breakthrough for the J series thus far. for NvrDwn being the first to mention it here on V6P.

Then how difficult would it be to use an 07 ECU in our Accord?

Yea. We will have to see if there is hope for us. The member who's car they were using has informed them that there are more 04-06s than 07-08s. If it becomes available for the 04-06 TL, then we could all use it as long as we purchased the 04-06 ECU and immobilizer. We will see if/when this happens.

Lets hope they can be convinced to try and crack our ECU so its programmable as well. Or find a way to get the 07-08 to work on our car. Im excited to hear what they say.

The one guy called them out about not having anything to do with the TL racecar they use as a reference on their site. I found that amusing. It was an 04 which they dont yet support.

Yeah, so why did they spend all this time developing a flash pro for such a small segment of the J market? The other ECU must be a b!tch to crack, otherwise why make a flash pro for such a niche market?

Someone at Church Tuning told me last week when I was down there that Hondata was releasing software for the 4th gen TL...very glad to hear THIS as well!

I'm about to embark down the road many others have (I'm sure), and start a 7th gen petition to Hondata.

w00t!!

I think now many cars with J series engines are becoming older, hence more affordable and a more performance conscious market driving them. I see alot of young kids now driving AV6's and TL-S's that normally wouldnt be able to afford them new 5-6 years ago. I HOPE thats the way Hondata sees it and capitalizes on the opportunity. I got monies just waiting to be spent on something like this

(Hope you don't mind, Paul...) NVA tells me, "07 ecu is wired very differently."

It is highly unlikely that Hondata will change their FlashPro hardware to support the slower communication protocol. The 04' ~ 06' TL and 7th gen Accord uses ISO9141 and runs at 10.4k bits/second (think dial-up speed). The 07' and later TLs as well as all other later Honda/Acura vehicles use CAN. This runs at 500k bits/second (think broadband speed).

Using the older protocol, it could take 15 minutes to re-flash the ECU. That's like an eternity.

There is absolutely no reason that an 07' or 08' TL ECU couldn't be used in the 7th gen Accord. You would have to either re-pin the ECU connectors on the existing wire harness, or swap out the entire engine harness (2 pcs).

^ That gives us hope! We would need the Type S ECU then, no? At least the MT guys because the 07-08 Base only came in AT.

I thought Ethan had said that we had a CAN bus? I know nothing about this btw lol.

Yes, there is a CAN bus in the Accord. Used mainly for communication between the ECU and the cluster.

I forgot to mention that you would also need to run the 2 CAN wires to the OBD2 connector. It's just like the TSX application.
