If you guys really want to race and see some sweet cars, can I suggest Irwindale? More specifically the Irwindale Speedway, which is right next to the 605 freeway. They have a 1/8 mile strip and if you get there when they open you can park right next to the strip and watch the cars go by. I could see a group of us getting together there and staking out some prime real estate by the strip. If memory serves it's $10/car to get in OR $20 to race (you are guaranteed 3 runs but you actually get to run all night long, although the lines start to grow after an hour.)
There is foodservice (barbeque style, kind of pricey, consider bringing some of your own) and the bathrooms are nice. These events are held at the Thursday Test-n-Tune events:
Drag racing Grudge match (you race a friend) Burnout competition Girl power racing (whatever that is)
Regular bodied cars and junior dragsters make runs.
If any of you have trucks or know people who do, it's killer to back them up to the fence by the drag strip and bring a couple folding chairs and some KFC or whatever, and some drinks, and just chill and watch the cars go by. You should see some of the crazy rides there, I've personally seen a 10' tall pickup jacked up like a Tonka and an old '80s car with the same job done to it. And of course all kinds of domestics and imports. There are also usually nitromethane and battery-powered RC cars buzzing around, as well as people on mini-motorcycles.

I would suggest we get together there in the summertime when the nights are warm (i.e. June through September). Maybe we can schedule it for a few weeks before or after the 29th meet. Does anyone have a preference? Thursday nights might be hard for some people to schedule but we have the whole summer to play with.
