New Jersey Turnpike strikes again. Im in the truck lanes and I hear that awful sound of road rubble hitting the front glass. I now have a very small, about a 16th of an inch depression, no cracks, right in my line of sight. Any suggestions on how to fix this or just learn to live with it?......Mike

i think there is a $40 service that can fill in chips on winshields. Most of the time they will come to your work parking lot to accomodate you....

Most auto glass places will have some way of filling the hole so it's not near as noticable.

Safelite is definitely the way to go. I work for an insurance company and I use them all the time.

Cracked windshields are replaced for free (at least on the frontside, it's free..... insurance may get you on the backside), but a windshield with just a chip is not.

Just got a huge chip/crack in mine today. There was a clear impact point and a spider web of cracks about 1" in diameter. Took it to a auto glass place and the guy filled it in for $40.

The windshield is a sandwich, 2 layers of glass around a plastic center layer. The outside layer is what got chipped/cracked. So, the guy drilled through the top layer to get all the cracked parts out, then he filled it in with epoxy. You can barely see it now.. it's a speck of dust. Only time wiill tell if the crack runs.
