I would like to know how what kind of sound improvement I can expect with just changing the front and rear speakers. I was thinking rockford fosgate.

i put rockford fosgates all around in my 03 EX V6. I started with 220watt 2channel 6 1/2"s, 330watt (something like that) 3 channel 6x9s and a 1500watt 4 channel rockford amp.

No Bass. It would get extremely loud but not a hint of bass. So I added another 1500watt RF amp and one 12" JVC 1000watt sub and now it really feels like a system. I just wish honda made it easier to change the head unit (which i havent done yet). Plus my lights dim during heavy bass, but new HIDs will fix that soon.

Its not really complicated, i had my friend help me with it and it took like 3 hours. (he happens to work on cars). Just make sure you dont over pay cuz Rockford Fosgate is extremely marked up in retail stores, my 6 1/2"s were retail ~$130.00, i paid around $37 and change (Best Buy discount).

Dude Hid's won't fix that, you need a capacitor on that baby.

i dont think youll be reaching your full potential by just replacing the speakers. i dunno about the new headunits honda makes today, but my stock hu put about 10 watts a channel so 10x4 my sony one puts out 23x4 rms, which is a hell of a ton better. i also wanna get a pair of subs/amp but the labor costs will screw me in the debt hole.

I have added an Infinity Basslink and the bass is more than enough. The Shop connected the basslink to the rear speakers as an input and ran the controller right under the sunroof switch. I dont like to have a rattling car or booming bass (damn Im getting old) so I thought it was more than enough.

HIDs would fix that because they draw much less power from your battery than the stock halogen bulbs. I would still recommend getting a capacitor though

Most HIDs use a small fraction of the power normal bulbs use, and in my experience it has solved the problem.

I never had my speakers in without an amp so i cant comment, but when i had my system first installed, the guys blew some chip in the head unit, the one that supplies the 10x4 output. Instead of getting another one from honda, apparently toshiba makes a comparible one which outputs at 13x4. I only heard my system for a couple of seconds before it blew, but the new toshiba chip definitely made it sound louder. If anyone's interested I can ask the guy who installed it for the part number.

Replacing speakers will do barely anything. I would highly recommend either getting a 2 channel amp for your front speakers, or with a little more dough, replace your front speakers with an amp. If you need to sacrifice anything, sacrifice the back speakers, biggest bang for your buck, upgrade your front speakers w/amp and w/speakers (if u have the cash).

But with a sub, your whole system will sound a lot better, it makes a big difference.

I put a second Optima battery in my trunk and I have no problems..I skipped on the capictor, but I might put one in this summer.

The bass owns me inside the cabin, I mean my ****ing ears hurt so bad after riding with the volume up @ 20. It's so crisp and clean. However, outside the car it sounds so horrible.

I put the optima in, and theyre installing two capacitors, i wonder how ill be, the system will be done monday afternoon. The real cure for an electrical problem is a hight output alternator/deep cycle battery (optima).

That's some serious stuff, what are you running?

I'm running 2000W amp for the subs, and a 300W amp for the speakers inside.

I just recently upgraded my sound system. For the bass/lows I have the Infinity Basslink (10in self-powered sub) and it does the job. Also I upgraded the front speakers to some Infinity Reference series 6 1/2 Components. I originally went with the Kappa series but the Kappa series would not fit properly. For the rears I upgraded to some Infinity Kappa series 6x9 2-way all powered by a 4-Channel Alpine amp. The sound is amazing and crisp. You will benefit from upgraded the speakers and going with an aftermarket amp to run the speakers. Just replacing the speakers alone will not do much. I'm not an audio freak and what I've done I'm pretty much satisfied. I may go with a sub & box for a some harder bass but that's sometime in the way future.

Which 6 1/2s fit into the door panel without any modifications?

I have Rockford Fosgate Punch 6.5's up front
Rockford Fosgate Punch 6X9's in the back
and ONE Rockford 10" HE2 Sub w/ 800w amp.

Even without the sub, it sounds great, bass hits hard and gets pretty low, the sub finishes it off

My JL XRs fit into the doors just fine.
