View Full Version : Smoked Taillights DIY / FAQ - How to Smoke Your Tails

Alright, I have been kicking around the idea of smoking my tail lights for a couple weeks now. Not really wanting to go into this project with questions, I have done a TON of research on the topic. Reading everything I could on this forum and other forums, reading technical specs on nightshade versus RC Car Tint, researching what clear coats should be used and what shouldn't be, researching legality issues (esp. in PA), and I would like to put together a DIY / FAQ on the subject.

That being said, I'm probably another week away from actually doing this myself and I'm posting this early because I want opinions on what pictures I should take, what questions everyone has, and what issues I should cover in my DIY. This being a fairly common thing, I'm sure if we all pulled together we could come up with a HELLA good DIY / FAQ that could be used for newbies down the road, not just for the AV6 but for other cars.

Let me know if there is any interest in this and if anyone wants to help me out just give me an IM/PM/email and let me know.

awesome, let us know how it turns out, and post some pictures if you can.

Not much response here... thought more people would be into helping with this. Looks like I'll just go into it blind. PM me if you would like to help or want some info on a status of the DIY.

Testors RC tint spray with DuPont or DupliColor clearcoat is best. By using real clearcoat it can withstand weather conditions better.

I learned that after tinting the second time.
