DIY for replacing rotos?

i searched arround and couldnt find nething to detailed, does anyone have a good diy on how to take and put back on rotors(front)on a 99 coupe

From my chiltons

1. Use a siphon or clean turkey baster to remove about half of the brake fluid from the master cylinder
2. Raise and safely support the vehicle and remove the tire/wheel assembly
3. Remove the caliper mounting bolts, then lift the caliper assembly away from the brake rotor.
4. Use a suitable piece of wire to suspend the caliper assembly. This will prevent the weight of the cliper from being supported by the brake flex hose which will damage the hose.
5. Once the caliper body and brake pads are removed, unfasten the caliper bracket moutning bolts, then remove the bracket from the rotor.
6.Remove the rotor retaining screws.
7. Remove the brake rotor by pulling it straight off the wheel mounting studs or or if seized in place, remove the stubborn brake rotor by threading in two 8 x 125 mm bolts, two turns at a time until the brake rotor is released.

To install:
8. If necessary, completely retract the piston into the caliper using a large C-clamp or other suitable tool.
9. Install the brake rotor onto the wheel hub and tighten the mounting screws.
10. Install the caliper mounting bracket and secure with the retaining bolts.
11. Install the caliper and pad assembly over the brake rotor and mounting bracket and install the mounting bolts.
12. Fill the master cylinder to the proper level with fresh brake fluid.
13. Install the tire/wheel assembly and lower the vehicle.
14. Pump the brake pedal until the brake pads are seated and a firm pedal is achieved before attempting to move the vehicle.

thanks i appreciate it, i installed new rotors (from carquest $60 each) and some bendix front pads from advance yesterday and I am very happy with them, thanks for your help

can i replace a wheel stud that has been "damaged" this way as well?

one of my front wheel studs is stripped...i need to replace it.

yes u can..but replacing a stud is a lil bit more difficult.

i'm guesssin u dont' wanna replace bearings and pay xtra..

the problem widh replacing the stud is that..the headshield gets in the way of the studs from fully coming out..

wut u can do is cut a small portion on the hield shield (woudln't harm the car) and hammer out the stud..if u wanna replace all the stud..basically just try to turn the rotors to the position of the cutted hieldshield area..and hammer it out..

hmm...good idea..never thought about that...can i use a dremel too to cut a hole in it?

and i've heard the studs just are forced in there so i need a hammer to knock them out.

yea..the stud are just force in ....a hammer would work magic..haha

becuz if u bring it to the local shop..they gon charge u for labor /stud and repacking the bearing..which can = ALOT

me and my friend did all that (replacing stud) cuz mines were broken for $16....

u can even get the stud cheaper..but i decided to get them at honda...so it was $4/piece..

i had 2 broken stud, and 2 bent..so i swap them all out..

but yea..a dremel would work too i bet!

does the hub get in the way too or just the heatshield? Are you talking about the front or rear? I need to replace my stud too.

Is there a DIY for replacing the studs, the shop cross threaded all of mine because when I gave them the new wheel locks I wanted on they were a different size then stock. Also, how long does this process take per wheel. Since I need to replace all of mine that are on the car now. Any help would be appreciated. thanks.

Newbie question here. I just changed had the rotors turned and replaced all the pads on my 2002 Accord V6. However, I can't seem to find any info on how much torque do the 17mm Caliper bolts take?

Anybody know what the torque rating is for the 17mm (front calipers) bolts that hold the calipers on? As well, anybody know what the rear caliper torque ratings are?????

I replaced my brake for the 5th time in my accord's life (99) the 17mm claiper bolt keeps spinning.. do i need to get a new caliper bracket ? has this happen? 1/4 is loose, the other 3 is tight and torque to spec..

according to the honda manual the 17mm caliper bolt is 79ft/lb..
