i do. I'm starting Advanced Auto Service classes at Apex Tech in NYC...After 10 months i'll graduate and with a 3.0 GPA you can choose to go train to work for BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Volkwagen, Volvo or Ford. These European companies want skilled techs for their service depts. Along with ASE certiicates a yearly salary is any where from 70k to 100k. Within 4 yrs, i could find a job at APEXi, HKS USA and hook you guys up! There's some incentive in referring people..so if anyone thinks this sounds interesting hit up http://www.apextechnical.com/main.htm

I'm interested in doing this and was going to the Open House. Give me additional information, i.e. schedule of classes, tuition costs, side costs (manuals, books, tools, etc.)

70k-100k is the starting salary for a ASE Master Technician. The training you get at Apex follows ASE guidelines so after you complete a course segment you can take the ASE tests. the segments for the advanced class (Automotive Technician) is as follows

Engines
Fuel Systems
Electrical Systems
Chassis
HVAC systems
Manual/Auto Transmissions
Performance
Advanced Engines (rebuilding blocks/heads/grinding valves etc)
Advanced Transmissions (disassembly, inspection, AWD systems)

The program is 45 weeks/class hours separated into theory and practical (hands-on) Apex has three floors dedicated to Auto Service with a complete shop and equipment. There is a part time evening course that runs for 85 weeks. Day classes are from 8am 2pm - every weekday.. nights are 6-10pm mon-thurs
tuition for the advanced course is $18,916 including books and tools the basic course (900 hours) is $12,782.
There is also an autobody program where you learn stuructural analysis and repair, painting, refinishing, plastics, glass, welding, etc. thats $13,904

Any other questions i suggest you guys visit their open house, they are held almost everyday. I start class on Thurs 6/26 the next group class is scheduled to begin 8/7

The only requirement for Apex is a HS diploma or GED

Like i said if you maintain a 3.0GPa with 95% attendance you are offered a training internship with your choice of M-B, BMW, Audi, Volkswagen, Volvo or Jaguar. you will train at the manufacturers facility and be reimbursed for your living expenses while training and also receive a salary. they will also help you in repaying your student loans. With financial aid, the cost can go down significantly but i still pay 8g's out of my own pocket. Since it is identical to applying for aid at a college, the less money your family has, the more aid you will get:p
