Follow the directions.. It's gotta be the Java settings not the ActiveX, etc... And close IE and restart it.. ;)

Are you SURE you're changing the Java permissions... there's a seperate popup screen for them.

Tools -> Internet Options

Click on Security Tab

Click on Custom Level

Find the Microsoft VM listing then under it Java Permissions

Check the Custom box.

At the bottom a new option appears in the window: "Java Custom Settings" Click it

Click on the Edit Permissions Tab

Under Unsigned content I have "run in sandbox" checked and then "Access to all network addresses" is enabled

Make sure that everything under Signed Content is set to enabled.

Click all the OKs etc.. Then close all your browser windows. :)

Jason: it SHOULD work if you have java installed even on Opera... It's just a .jar file.

Are you doing this from work Jason? you may be behind a firewall. I know I can't connect at work, I get the same error, but works perfectly well from home.

You could just DL mirc.. http://www.mirc.com or xchat from http://www.xchat.org

Server: irc.topgamers.net
Channel: #V6Performance

I finally decided I wont be able to use the internet explorer java chat room, so I dl'd mIRC and this is the step by step for everyone to get started.

Step 1: Download mirc from www.mirc.com

Step 2: Install the Program to the designated area

Step 3: Once installed it will show the options folder, if not open mirc, and click the picture of the folder with the hammer next to it.

Step 4: Once in the options section, type in ur screen name, and email adress, and your name (alternative is not needed)

Step 5: Click the edit button on the right hand side of the options folder and a new screen will pop up. Type this where its shown:

IRC server = irc.topgamers.net
Port(s) = 6667
Group = 01

... and then hit ok, and then hit ok at the option folder, from now on your you dont have to change this setting.

Step 6: Click the signal lightning bolt on the top left, and then it should connect, and a new folder saying "Enter name of channel to join:

Step 7: cut and paste this ---> #V6performance , and click join, and a new window will pop up, and you should be able to type in that window on that bottom.

Step 8: Enjoy talking in the chatroom, and have fun!

I hope this helps anyone who cant join through the java aplet on this site, If you have any further questions about mirc, just pm me or aim me at abram2001.

Hey,
I never check web site news...guess I should. Any way to temporarily sticky this into other forums?

Also, if you need an IRC OP who is script crazy, lemme know :) Ill be idle in the room whenever my computer is on at home at the very least :)
