07 TL key fob conversion

Iam starting this new thread so that its easier to search. I guess I am the first one to do this, here are the details and the pictures.

Part Used: 35111-SEP-306

Total Cost: $46 for the key fob and paid $20 to the guy who cut/programmed it for me

Notes Since we dont have Memory Seats in our cars, the memory function has to be turned off before the remote can be programmed. Simply press the "Lock" and "Unlock" button as the same time until the LED blinks twice.
The only thing that doesnt work on mine is the Glove Box lock, I dont know if the guy didnt cut it right or something but other than that its all good.

Other than the glovebox issue, did it work perfect?

I asked the guy if he can program more and he said he can but dont how much for. I'll call him up tomorrow and ask him wassup. I think 20 bucks a key should be good enough if for him. He did mine for free but I gave him 20 bucks.
If he agrees, then you guys send me the key with the money and I will get it programed and send it back.

so if we buy the key fob, it comes with the key too? or do we have to buy a Accord uncut key to send to you along with the TL key fob?

Also do he need our VIN or anything like that?

With the TL key fob, you get an uncut key blade. Your original accord key and the VIN number is required IMO but I'll ask him that in the morning.

damn - this would be so bomb if it worked on a 6th gen.

i think the 6th gen is limited to just lock/unlock though.

Hmm...makes me wonder if they had the "tag" that comes with your original keys if they would have gotten the glovebox working as well. Then again, with your VIN, I'd figure they probably used it with their database to get that number and then cut the key accordingly.

I'm also wondering if Acura did the cutting would they replace the key no charge if it failed to open the glovebox? Only thing I can think of stopping them would be them saying "oh its an Accord and not a TL" or "it's a Honda not an Acura", so they can't guarantee the cut will work...you get the idea.

the cut looks a little bit off. thats probably why it wont open your glove box, although its weird that you say it opens your trunk and unlocks the fuel filler lock....

oh, and like i said on Gen7, theres no way we can send keys to him and have him program it for us. the car has to be present because the car is programmed to accept they key, not the key programmed to start the car. he theoretically can cut it for us, but hes not supposed to because he is supposed to verify ownership before just cutting a key from a VIN or keytag number. opens up a huge security/fraud/theft issue.

i think u'll have to wear the key down a bit, before it'll open ur glove box. When i first got my keys cut, i had to wear them a bit before i was able to open the trunk and glove

They program the immobilizer through some sort of Device by your VIN number. They need the car to program the keyless entry but you can program it yourself on the car.

dude, i know what i'm talking about. they NEED the car to to store they new key into the car's immobilizer. theres no other way to do it.

they have to connect the car to a diagnostic device at dealers called the HDS. and then they add the new key into the immobilizer's memory.

i have a Honda Service bulletin PDF i got from i think clubrsx or acurazine that details the process of adding new keys to the car, but i dont think i can attach it here.

EDIT:
here, i uploaded to rapidshare.

I think I actually have the instruction to how to program the key? I was reading it in the TSB for Honda.

I'll check it out tomorrow morning.

Hey Shon.nv, one question...in looking at the pics, is the TL fob really around twice the thickness of the Accord key? I can't tell if its just an illusion or not (I can see maybe 1 1/4 times to 1 1/2 times...but 2 times larger?)
