bad alternator?

hey a squeeekie noise is coming out of my engine. first i thought it was the belts that were either ot of place or lose. or it could b the a/c. but i just replaced the a/c. so it couldnt be the a/c. my teacher told me that it was coming from the alternator, a bearing bust have been busted. first it was a grinding sound . and now its a squeekie sound. sometimes it stops and then it starts again. any1 has or had the same problems?

i got my alternator rebuilt. 60 for labor and 160 for the parts. it busted again after 3 months but they took care of me. just goto any mechanic and see what they'll charge.

take a long screwdriver and place the tip on the alternator and your ear on the handle to confirm where the squeek is comming from.

I suspect one of the bearings in my alternator is bad. Have any of you guys changed your bearing's by yourself? If so what is the level of difficulty?

I had the squeaky problem, it was the belt. It all went away when I got my timing belt done cause they replace all the drive belts too. If it's the alt, might as well get a new one before it dies on you.
