My car wont start w/ key--HELP

Hi Guys. This one is weird. My car fires up normally with the remote starter, but today I only hear a single click w/ no starter when I turn the key. All the indicator bulbs light up normally, beeping normal. Its been happening all day. The battery and alternator are ok b/c remote works fine...I'm confused by this. Any ideas?

I guess I can continue to use the remote , but I can't understand how to fix the problem with the key...

the click sound is from your starter. It could be the ignition switch, but i don't know. Using your remote start shoudl start it up since it basically puts power to the starter to turn the car on.

I called my mechanic buddy this morn. He said that it could have to do with faulty/loose wiring with my remote starter (which bypasses the ignition switch), or with my blaster ss coil. Otherwise, maybe new ignition switch ($$). Apparently no fuses to check & replace here. boo.

shouldn't have any problems with the ss coil in the way. I have a cliff remote start and added the ss coil to it after the remote start and everything is fine. You might have to buy a new ignition switch. SS coil has nothing to do with the ignition not turning over, if anything, the coil should turn the ignition better not worse.

i dont think the remote start bypasses the ignition switch does it? I know that the remote has a component to bypass the immobilizer and that the remote start just usually sends poewr to the starter to start? I might be wrong.

I've had this problem, try turning the key really fast when you try to manually start it.

I think a remote starter does bypass the ignition switch. Its kinda on the same lines as a turbo timer. The engine will continue to run even with the key out of the ignition. As long as the starter itself is getting a signal, it will turn the engine over.

Edit: hehe, didn't realize I would be advertising turbo timers in my post.

well, apparently it was the ignition switch . I tried the fast fast key turn, cycling/resetting the alarm (I have a Python 881xp--ignition control in the brains..for anti theft), etc. nothing worked. bought ign switch from my buddy, installed it--fired up right away.

thanx very much guys.
