Putting a 6-disc changer in a 99?

I have wanted to put just a stock 6-disc changer in my '99 for a while. I tried getting one on ebay and the guy said it won't fit in a 98, 99 but just the years where the 6-disc was an available option on the car. Is this true, or will it fit and connect just fine? Please let me know ASAP b/c someone is selling on here and I'll take it if it will fit good and connect fine. Thanks - Mike

if it's the stock radio from a 01-02 (when they ex's had the 6-disc in dash stock) it will go in fine. Just plug and play

I think you're talking about this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2437767265 player right?

But if the price goes up too high, I would recommend you getting an aftermarket MP3 player instead

Yeah, I'm talking about just the stock one. Someone on this site is selling it though for a good price. If I remember right, the guy (not this same guy, but for the same player) on ebay told me my 99 doesn't have enough room in the back to hold the 6 discs or some crap like that. So it will for sure fit in the stock stereo gap and connect just fine?

That player will fit in a 99
You just connect it in the same way that you would put in your stock player. Just the harness and the antenna

Yes it works

I have it on my car and all I can say is that it is much better than the 98-00 radio .

cd-r and cd-rw should be fine. If they start messing up, just burn them at a slower speed with some memorex cd-rs.
When I had my stock CD player in my 99, it would only let me play burned cd's if I burned them at 4x with some memorex cds, but I think the 01-02s read them easier.

Yes the 01-02 one reads CD-R's of any type with no problems.

98-00 one has trouble finding the tracks on a CD-R. Sometimes it takes a few minutes to find it and sometimes it never does. I got so frustrated with it . Reason I have my 01-02 HU .

I didn't know CD-RW's worked in the 01-02 HU .

just go get an mp3 player, you can put more than 6 CDs on one disk, its more like 10. so now you can have a 10 disk in-dash player thats going to make you stock speakers sound better!

I actually don't know if cd-rws work with the 01-02 players. I have no clue.

But I agree with smokedout, I used to have a 6 disc in dash in my '99 along with the single disc in-dash but my mp3 player is so much more fun and sounds better

Hell yeah, good news to hear that the 01-02 players play the
cd-r's ok becuase I can't put up with mine not being able to anymore. It's so embarassing when my friends are in my ride and the damn songs won't load. I noticed some mp3 players on Ebay for a pretty good price. If I can snag one of those I will, but if not, looks like the stock 6-disc would be good too.

Is either of your mp3 players double din or just single? If not, do you know of any double din mp3 players?
