Bose cost to much and is a waste IMO. Just go aftermarket on the HU and speakers and you will be happy.

Moved to A/V section

It's still amazing how the unknowing public.. when asked about those four letters.. B O S E... tend to highly regard them as the reference point for all other speakers to measure up to..

What marketing can do for a company

I haveta admit I was impressed with their dinky bose radio.. it's not "room-filling" sound.. but not bad for the twiddler drivers...and the extended wavey port.. I was interested in it but for $349.. I dont fawken think so!!

I had a Bose "premium" factory system in my '96 Camaro
The overall sq of the system was marginal at best. The sub bass was way overboosted and muddy. Very little high freq. detail and poor midbass. IMO.

This is why the 2004 TL ditched the Bose speaker system and put in a 225 watt Acura/ELSŪ Premium 8-speaker Surround Sound System with DVD-Audio and DTS (first North American car to have this). And from what some have said it sounds like an amazing system.

amazing that Mercedes Benz.. up to their SL65 AMG has a Bose system in it. You'd think the germans would have better quality control on audio systems... there are some great german speaker makers that could incorporate into their upper echelon cars... *cough* that car deserves some Rainbow Platinums in that bish..

As for Acura and the ELS system.. I heard it.. with their demo DVD-A, one of my friend's DVD-A and regular CD.... midbass up front still is the one thing manufacturers arent into... directional bass can be felt and noticed from the back of your head. Distortion at low to mid levels kept the music enjoyable... open air driving.. naaaaaah still wont cut it. DVD-A surround sound really needs to be appreciated... but leave the A/C running in the summer time to enjoy the "engineered reflections" (surround sound ) once the windows go down everything goes out the door.

But even I hate to say it.. the Mark Levinson systems in the Lexus's still has a better presence and more airy feel and better quality drivers. Acura is on the right track... let's se how the RL flagship sound system stacks up

The one thing I would like is a stock system not needing of an upgrade.. once you start tearing the car apart to install speakers, etc.. the car is never the same... as it wouldve been factory put together.. those clips, screws, snaps... fatigue ever so slightly after the first pop of a panel or the pull away of a bezel... hence rattles, creaks, moans creep in faster than the car's true progressed age... I know I know... no car is immune to this.. but do we hasten the process of aging when we start "customizing"? perhaps....

just some thoughts

The rear TL speakers are mounted in the rear doors and not the back by the rear window like on the Accord. Not sure it will bolt into the Accord without doing some modifications.
