How do I get the cluster out???

Trying to put in this chrome bezel i bought to go around the guages. I got the trim out an screws out that hold the cluster in, now what? It looks like the clear plastic doesn't come off. Is it ok to unplug the wires an totally remove the cluster? Help me out guys.

Yes, unplug the three harnesses and remove the entire cluster. Getting the clear plastic cover off the first time is ... well ... a *****, to be honest. Once you remove the 4 torx bolts, I used a combination of exacto knife and small flathead screwdriver to chip away at the adhesive and pry the clear piece away from the bezel. All I can stress is TAKE YOUR TIME! You will undoubtedly start doing a real good job and then (like me) get pissed off that it is taking more than 5 minutes and start to rush it. That's right about the time you try to pry off too big a piece and get a nice crack in the plastic face.

Oh yeah and when breaking the adhesive loose it sounds like you're cracking the entire plastic piece. Scared the hell out of me 4 or 5 times, just keep going slowly.

Oook, i'll try the "patience" method again lol. Thanks. But once that step is done, does plugging the harnesses back in cause any problem? Any lights stay on or anything like that?

I didn't have to do anything like that. Just go home depo, you can get a set of "start" keys, like the hex, but a start. I got a nice set for about 8 bucks. Just take the cluster out, then remove the screwas in the back. I think I had to remove all of them & then it came apart. Then the plastic cover pop's off. I didn't have to do ANY cutting !!!

Well the job is done. Definitely a pain in the a$$. There were not clips an it didn't just "pop" off. I had to pry it very gently with flathead an a pick, an a heatgun. Came off eventually an set bezel in, then just touched up the edges wit super glue. Its good to go now. Thanks guys.
