I would advise against Focal utopia's, as i have had them and the magnets r huge, would cause more troubles in a door
i have heard Diamond Audio Hex S600s speakers in my car and a 03 coupe and they sound great
they only needed the supplied ring and a mdf 1/2" spacer

i also researched a lot into 6.5 comp sets b4 i purchased the hex's
i am not at all in regret of what i got......

Of course... no budget has been mentioned... so we can name exotic speaker brands to everyday speaker brands... and get no where...

let us know you're budget, how good you are with DIY, and what installation location are you aiming for (stock location for tweet & woofer, custom kicks, pods, custom sail panel tweet & stock woofer location, etc....)

Out of the Seas, Dyns, and QSD.. the seas wins hands down for superb midrange clarity and detail... the reference tweeter could be put up with the buttery smooth platinum tweet but not quite... midbass is finicky on the references... QSDs are simply the best MBs you can buy.. but they are the best of the MB category and not the best overall speaker out there... as for the DYNs... if he has loads of power to spare and doesnt mind a setup that is very laid back and almost "too" neutral... by all means check out the Dyns.. all of these sets will run about $400-800 dollars.

agreed with L_fty

QSD's and reference tweeters are a bit too bright IMO...but you can get the silk dome tweeters instead of the ref tweeters for seas system.

Seas runs about $550, Dyns $450 , and QSD runs about $650.

Let us know your budget

I personally like the reference tweets... the silk domes take away from the detail... as for their brightness.. it's all subjective I think it's just right... but could be tamed a tad bit.. done with almost utter perfection via the plats...

maybe corrado would be interested in DIY comp sets... couple of vifa, maybe some other danish midwoofers with a plethora of different tweets... usher 9550, max's, scanspeak revs oOoO I'm tingly

I actually went with CDT Audio HD62CFs (MSRP $369) per L_fty's suggestion. They are not as good as their normal HD62s (MSRP $409) specs (180 watts rms) but their carbon fiber (hence CF extension) cones look cool and they still handle 130 watts rms. I think they sound awesome with their silk tweets and external pimp daddy crossover. Plus, I was on a budget and wanted 6.5 comps for the front and 6X9s for the rear for under $400. Found the HD62CFs for $199 at TheZeb.com and got CDT Audio CL69X 6x9s (also with silk tweets and external PD Xover) for the rear deck for under $160 on the web.

The door install was a pain for the 6.5 comps, but it paid off in the end.

Again, all I can say is L_fty is the Audio GOD!

My advice to you would be ask around for the 2003 model stuff. Speakers are just like cars and have new models every year and when the new year comes you can get the old for dirt cheap. I have diamond and i love them but they were like 500-600 and i have heard some of my friends speakers that were like 250 sounds decent but just not as crystal clear
