Coupe Taillight

i just noticed last night that our rear park lights, are also worked in with our indictaor lights, the one in the upper part of the triangle, so when we indicate for a turn it just flashes. i was wondering can i just change the bulb to i a single contact bulb or whatever.
Then the upper part of the triangle is used solely as an indicator.

What do i ask for, and do they have LED bulbs to fit our taillights?
thanks for the help.

are you saying you want the top part of the triangle to not light up? i think you can just get a single filament bulb for the signal part and they should come on when you indicate a turn. the 2nd gen tyc tailights uses amber bulb for the turn signal and it only turns on when you indicate a turn. i was wanting to do this too and put an amber bulb in it but then i'll have to have the top part of the triangle cleared.

yeah lowincash is right....cuz i explained it to him. Stock the upper triangle light is a dual filiment....go to auto zone and buy a single filiment bulb and it should just light up as the turn signal. if you buy an LED bulb it may look alot brighter than the rest of the lights and look odd.

Lowincash---- just get the clear single filiment bulb and you wont have to worry about clearing the light cuz it will be red. That is unless you just like amber.

Thanks guys, for the record though i hate them TYC lights, the only light i thought about doing was a clear light, and painting it red on the lower half so the upper part of the triangle will be clear.
but i changed my mind, since the LEDs are so bright, i might have to chnage all of them then. or just do the inner park light that are beside the reverse light, that way it will look like i have a european accord with rear fogs. i think im gonna definately do that one.

does any one know the part # for the single filament or even the original double filament bulb. i don feel like searching.

the turn signal bulbs we have now is 2057 and i think it's the same as the front signal (1157) so i think you can try the 1156 bulbs which are single filament. please correct me if i am wrong here

I cant remeber who told me, but you buy them off like ebay or somewhere, ahh yes... www.procarparts.com i know these guys have them, or used to have them, they are pretty cheap, like around $50 then you just paint the lower half red, that what a couple cats on here have done. Thing is i dont remeber what the name or type of paint is, but just line it with a tape or something and spray it, it looks dope too.

ok thanks i see them. they're like 55 bucks for the two triangles. would you think it'll look good on a red coupe w/ the top part of the corner clear and have amber bulbs in them?

and as for the bulbs i checked and yes you can use 1156 bulbs for the signal so they only come on when you signal.

Sweet. dawg, 1156, im gonna get that and and get red LED bulbs for the inside taillights so it looks like a european accord.

as for the red/clear tailights, cmon yo, it will be dope on a red coupe, the member i asked had it in his sig for a while and he used silver paint for the strip on the trunk lid and the lower part of the triangle onhis silver coupe, and it wasd dope, so since your car is red, it would be ill, with all red escept the upper part of the triangle, especially if u go single filament like i want to. and clear lights in front, and clear side marker, that would be so ill, i can see it now, all lights are clear, except the strip on the back.

DOPE, do it man do it, and post pics.

lol that'll be my next mod for christmas then!

but i'll have to get clear red paint and put enough layers to match the center strip since i'm leaving that piece. do you think i'll need clear coats?

I have my tails like this... The top is only used for the blinker. All I did was put some electrical tape over one of the contacts, that is it.

Yeah, just cover one up and plug it in and see if it is the right one, if not cover the other one.

another way to make your tail look different is using nite shades and tinting it a little bit. it gives it a smoky-clear look, i did it on my tails and i think it looks pretty good.

just do what entcee said...thats what i did. Well instead of using tape i just pulled out the contact. Its, easy and saves you money. Yea u should put some clear coat on after u paint cause it will help prevent the paint from fading.

heres a closeup if anyone is wondering how i did the lights

Here are some pics of my half-smoked stock lights. i followed the DIY for smoking tail lights in the DIY forum. I am happy with the outcome.
