Is it necessary to change back to stock for the winter?

Frankly, I have no space to keep my stock wheels so most likely I'm just gonna roll on aftermarket rims throughout the winter. I know all the salt and whatnot will damage my rims, but is there a way to fight it? Is there anything else I should be worried about?

If your rims are alloy (which most are) then they won't rust. The coating on them might get slightly damaged from the salt so wax them.

Tires are another problem though. If your tires are not all season then you will most likely will be sliding all over the place. Only way to keep your rim/tire combo for winter is to put those chains on your tires .
