Lightbulb 98-00 grill on 01+ bumper?

Since the early years of the 6th gen's have a two piece grill and bumper and the 01/02 have the grill made in with the bumper,is it possible to put a 98-00 grill on a 01 bumper?
just cut out the grill and use OE clips to attach to the bumper support at the hood latch?
I really want to do a cleaner looking grill.
I'll be useing an open ebay grill/no mesh.

It doesnt fit at all.

A couple members have tried it without success.

Either you can just get a 98-00 bumper and get a type r grille or put out some money to get some bodywork done to the 01-02 bumpers with an aftermarket grille.

Yeah I knew it was a shot in the dark but i'm not getting rid on the sexy 01 bumper.

I was thinking of cutting the 01 grill out and leaving about an inch of the grill to heat with a heat gun and roll up under the 98-00 grill.

I have a wrecked bumper i may try it on first.

The Type R grill..sits flat..where the bumper curves out.and also the huge gap..

what i had to end up doing for now.

Wow that is a gap,how did the hood line look with the hood closed?
Ill take some measurements and try to figure out if there is truly a way to do this.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but will this (k2motor .com/hg-acd98-tr.html) fit an 02 Accord? The site said that it will but they can be lying. Has anyone have any experience with that site or can point me to a better site?

I've been reading that you can't really modify your grille due to the fact that it is attached to the front bumper in 01-02 Accords. Is that right? I'm looking to have something like a Type R grille on my 02 Accord. Is there any simple solution or I would have to heavily modify/bondo my existing grille?

That sucks. Maybe I should start looking for an older bumper. That way I can get OEM lips too.. I was really hoping I didn't have to do that since money's tight these days.

I've seen lots of different setups but the best looking was a 98 bumper with the coupe Grill cut into it with the Sir foglights takes some cutting and body work but looks great I wanted more of the euro r Grill but it looks like I might lean that way a little

I was going through different grill and come to realize that the 96-98 civic grill is the same size as the 98-00 accord grill. I might have actuallt found a grill that might fit with very minor body work but i wont know till the end of the week
