Replica spoon TSX decklid spoiler TEST FIT

Ok, so a while back i decided to look for an alternative decklid spoiler for our cars because i really want something different than the tiny little generic m3 "spoiler". So after looking at my friends TSX trunk shape i thought i'd give it a try. The TSX trunk is 46inches wide and the accords is 47" so right off the bat i knew there would be a gap on the sides... so i picked up this replica spoon tsx decklid spoiler for $95 shipped. got it in the mail today and was very anxious to see how it fit.

From the top it looks great, but from underneath you see there is a gap about .5-.75 inches big, basically it has too much of a curve to it, but its just a little... so i want to get your opinions on whether i should continue with this mod and have a shop hack it up a bit a try to fit it, OR sell it to my friend for what i paid, close the deal, then go and try a 08 civic hybrid decklid spoiler, which is exactly 47" wide but the curvature might be a little off on that too.

pics are here...

btw, its made of fiberglass.

yea i realllllly want to continue too but i want to see how much better, if at all, the civic spoiler fits. problem is i dont have the funds to buy both at the same time. maybe i'll wait a while till i do then buy the civic one and try it. if nothing works... sell em both, and go with the m5 lip spoiler like you, at least its a tiny big bigger that the m3.

i would sell it. Even if you manage to get the spoiler to sit flush the .5-.75inch shorter on the sides would bother me.

yea although i might be getting the rear bumper and trunk repainted. bumper because of the rash you can see in the pics and the trunk because i used to have an OEM spoiler and it left 5 holes in trunk which are currently covered with small pieces of vinyl.

ok, made the decision to sell it because i got several quotes for hacking it up and making it fit.... the quotes were more than the spoiler itself so i said F it, so i just sold it to my friend with the tsx, he's picking it up tomorrow and i'll probably buy the civic one as soon as he hands me the cash. luckily the civic one is cheaper than the spoon tsx one. i found it on ebay and it's listed for $85 buy it now with free shipping and also has it up for best offer so i threw in my offer of $75... btw the civic one comes primered as well.... i could buy it pre painted in NHBP for like 110ish but then if it didnt work, i'd have a smaller group of people to sell to, at least this way if it doesnt work out, pretty much any civic sedan owner could buy it and have it painted.

*crosses fingers* and prays the civic spoiler works out better

Is there a way that you can test fit it on a sedan trunk before your friend picks it up? That would be great if you could and it would help out us sedan guys.

hmmm, well he's not going to install it right away so yea i guess i could but im pretty sure it will be very off on the sedan because its much curvier.

in fact i think the sedan has the option of running a scion tc spoiler, one of the white socal sedans has it i think. but yea if i can find a local sedan owner, i'll test it out.

and yea, they're magnaflows.... the older style with oval tips.

Honestly, I think this would have been an awesome mod but oh well, your friend is lucky. Hopefully the Civic one fits better!
