Illuminated Door Sills

So before you ask, these are SUPER SUPER SUPER hard to find. I actually bought these nearly a year ago and it was the final set on ebay at the time. I cant even remember the sellers name its been so long. i think they cost me about $75 for the pair when i bought them.

Ok, so these door sills come with the default bluish green glow which is no good for me since i have red everywhere inside so i had to customize them.

They light up using an Electroluminescent Sheet which is the bluish green color so i had to remove that, not the easiest task in the world because i literally had to cut it out. I luckily found a seller on ebay who sold red EL sheets online so i picked up a pair. Once i got them i cut them down to size and fired them up but they looked sorta pinkish to me so i had to go a step further to achieve red.

I went out and bought a can of transparent red paint from the hobby store and sprayed the lettering red too. In the pic with them off they look sorta black but its actually red.

I had to drill a small hole in the OEM plastic sills to run the wire. The EL sheets have a small inverter which i tucked under the carpeting on the sides. I then tapped the wires into the wires which power the lights in the doors. So these door sills only come on when the door is open.

ok, here's the pics...

top is before my mods, below is after, like i said, its not black, its transparent red sprayed over the blueish green plastic.

the back of the sills... i didnt actually paint the stuff on my trunk.

painting the logo red...

and on the car and working (with a light on behind me)

with no other lights besides whats on the car.

Very nice! How do those EL sheets work? You can cut it to any size/shape?

yup, when you buy them they come in a pre determined size with the leads already attached, you just have to cut the sheet to your desired shape and size while leaving the leads attached at their normal location and it'll still work. all you need is a pair of sharp scissors and it'll work just fine.

thats because it WAS dirty, and its being repainted soon anyways so i just put random crap on there now, i dont really care to protect the trunk paint since it was crap to begin with.

man i remember way back when Honda used to offer these specials sills that would ONLY work for the people with the OEM kit, for those with AUTHENTIC OEM sides you'll know that there are a bunch of holes on the top of the side skirt when you open the door, thats where those old "H Coupe" sills snapped in. I really regret not buying them when they were on sale at HandAaccessories.com several years ago.

Damn. NICE work. I have GOT to find me a set of these for my 7th gen sedan. No luck so far. Just these crappy ones.

I am requesting a picture for my car to see if they have the correct font.

there are white EL sheets but even with that, you'd still have the problem of getting white light through the greenish blue plastic, luckily my red EL sheet and red spray tint worked.
