Help on new car audio

I have a 2000 accord coupe.

I want to change all my speakers and replace them with Kicker or something with and amp.

Any recommendation? thanks!

Kicker speakers aren't special at all. What's your budget?

I like Pioneer and JBL speakers. Currently I have all pioneer speakers (6.5 component set in the front, 6x9 in the back) but I've had JBL's in my old car. The best thing to do is take your own music, listen to different speakers and pick the ones you like. Then go buy them online...it's cheaper.

alpineee is good too

along with infinity, mb, jl, and eclipse.

another underrated often unheard brand is image dynamics, really good quality ish.

btw, if you go 6x9's in the rear, you have to get shallow mount speakers or it will rub on the trunk spring everytime you open / close it.

you could just run a 6x9 -> 6.5 adapter and use 6.5's much easier that way.

Hmmm thanks for the ideas.

I wanna get each set at a time like rear, then front, then tweeters, and maybe a amp to power it all...

500 is the range right now, but it'll end up more.

I listen to everything haha, I dunno the watts, ohm, 4 way Im lost when it comes to that

if you love music and like to really experience the music i'd recommend some quality brands like: hertz, morel, rainbow, seas..

dude.. some of the best speakers for the money would be infinity kappa perfects.. everyone has a friend who works at best buy. so find someone who can grab you a pair of the 6.5 comps for about 60-70 i think and the 6x9's for about 120 of so, on discount. then use the rest of the money to buy a 400 watt FOUR channel amp. make sure its FOUR channel. and then youre good to go.

If I get a 400w amp would it work with a 300w speaker?

if you're getting a 400 watt 4 channel amp that rating is probably at a 2 ohm load. sense most component speakers are 4ohm you wont be getting that much power to them. more than likely an amp like that will be putting out around 25watt at 4ohm per channel which is underpowering the speaker.

SHORT ANSWER: yes, but the speaker will be underpowered

Amps have power ratings at 2 ohm and 4 ohm (level of resistance). Speakers come as 2 ohm or 4 ohm (typically 4) and that will determine how much power the amp is putting out. Also the power ratings for the amp should be rms not max wattage while that 300 watt speaker rating is at max wattage.

Crutchfield is a good site to find the rms wattage of speakers (typically a range). When you pick out the speakers you want, look at the rms wattage (amount of power they can handle continuously) and buy an amp that can put out that much power or close to it. you can buy an even more powerful amp than that just make sure it doesnt put out more power than the max wattage rating of the speakers

and like said before, if you're wanting to do new front and rear speakers make sure you buy a FOUR channel amp. i've taken out my rear speakers and will eventually be buying a 2 channel amp to power my 2 front speakers....hope this helps

i found THIS site very useful when i was learning about stereo systems

What everyone said before is good advice. I prefer Infinity as a speaker brand, most of that is personal preference as long as you get a reputable brand. The only thing I want to add is that I got the feeling from your previous post that you were thinking about getting them at different times. I would suggest that you wait to put them in(if you are doing it yourself) until you have everything. I have installed many car stereos in my cars and friends cars and its always easier to do the entire thing first instead of going back and adding an amp later. It saves time on taking panels apart and you can do all of your wiring at one time.

I personally hate the sound of infinity speakers. The tweeters are waaaaaay to over bearing. If ur lookin for some sound info, go to caraudio.com or diymobileaudio.com. Lots of info. Image dynamics isnt underrated either, its just expesive lol.

prety much any style. check out www.crutchfield.com and put in your cars model there. they will tell you all that will fit. then you could go to ebay or amazon to buy the speakers for less...

odd...i didnt and I have had three different 6x9s the only problem i ran into with one of them was the grill cover not wanting to go back on. the simple fix for that was trimming the little ring off that is on the underside of the grill cover.

I'm planning on MBQuart 6.5 components upfront and MBQuart 6x9's in the rear shelf. And then one JL 10" dual VC firing right through the armrest in the backseat.

Not sure on the HU though. I would like 2 din with HD and bluetooth capabilities.

A nice 15" Solo-Baric in the trunk will hit so hard it's difficult to drive.

to Kville02Accord- i got a nice double din sized pioneer, not dvd tho just cd player ipod adapter included and it has bluetooth. i know kenwood and one other brand for sure has the nice 2din non dvd screen units you can check em out on crutchfield then ebay one for less. i knew i wanted the 2 din size for the clean look but had no need for a dvd player so check em out there priced good too not too expensive

naw, not with a small ratchet set. just make sure to take your time and if you have tint be careful of hitting that with your tools. the hardest part i remember was getting the grill cover off there are a few screws holding it on from within the trunk (underside) and the pop rivets (those things are a PITFA!!!
