6th Gen OEM Kit Coupe: What's the black tape line that's on the kit

For you guys who own an OEM coupe kit, it seems like most of them has a black line that sits between the kit and the bumper. What is that? Is it molding tape? foam? fender filler?

i think it also keeps the lip from scratching the bumper in case it moves or vibrates.

Yup, it's just to keep the lip from messing up the bumper. I don't really see why it would be to keep water away though because the bumper is still exposed under the lip anyways.

I wish the guy that painted my rear lip didn't paint that **** though...

yeah i saw one that had been repainted, looked pretty bad with all the flaking, probably the reason why oem painted parts are so sought after
