How much spray paint do I need for taillights?

Going to spray paint half my all clear tail lights red. (Sedan) I'm going to order "Testors 3 oz. Spray Transparent Candy Apple Red" online and I'm just wondering how many cans I need. And what type of good clear coat to use.

thanks alot

You shouldn't need more than 2 cans. I used the window tint color to "smoke" the upper portions of my tails, and I just finished with barley any left in the first can. So since your not gonna be doing and "smoking" you might need a lil more paint than I used. 2 cans will be enough. Remember when ur painting, CLEAN THE TAILIGHTS!!! Excess wax from a wax job on the car can make the paint not stick to the lens causing running. Also spray VERY LIGHT coats with A LOT OF COATS. Let the tails dry in between coats becuase the paint WILL RUN espically on the tailights.

After MAKE SURE THE tails are dry of the paint, then hit it with a clear coat. I used a Krylon clear coat, and I think I put too much coats (3) becuase the lens doesn't have the shine, and it's more of a dull "smoke" black.

Good luck, and have fun.
