question about Amp with Subs

i currently have 2 Alpine Type R's (1241D) in my room waiting to be installed...only problem? no amp. so my friend offered to sell me his amp...but...i found a Alpine V12 MRD-M1000 amp to buy for a better price...so...the amp is mono...and it says 500w x 1 @ 4ohms and 1000w x 1 @ 2ohms... i have the 4ohm models of my subs...so which does it run at? also...if i install new speakers in my car and want to amp them.. (4 in stock Locations) what is best kinda amp for this? please help me with these...the sooner i get a response, the sooner i can get it all installed! woot woot!

look on the instruction manual on wiring those subs when you run 2 12"s. it tells you how u can wire the dual 4 ohm subs and what ohm output it gives.

it'll work just fine with two Type R's... maybe 3, but i don't know about the new alpine amps... the old ones could handle three.

runn both parallel to the mono amp. the amp will read 2 ohms at this power, giving out 500 watts to each @ 4ohms, or 1000 watts total @ 2ohms... just as the amp states it can do.

btw... parallel means run 2 negative and 2 positive wires, on to each negative and positive of each amp.

if your amp is stable at 2 ohms, you will need 2 single voice coils subs... you can wire them in parallel and get the 2 ohm load from the amp... lemme know if you need some help installing, i'll give you some tips...

Here this will help you but don't wire it down to 1ohm because that will kill the amp. And with two 4ohm sub you have to run it at 4 ohm(amp).http://www.crutchfieldadvisor.com/S-...pedance=DVC4x2
