Fosgate amps have always been my amp of choice.. they sound great and push a good amount of power, and you can get them online for good prices (albeit sometimes minus the warranty).

what's the RMS rating for the comp VRS? and what impedance of subs you have?

i could throw a lot of names, but w/o anything specific i can't say much.

if i had to guess the VRs take 300rms each, n i 'll prob say look at US acoustics USX800d, or JBL600.1, RF BD500, a lot of them, just need t specifics.

I'd go with one of these: Rockford Fosgate, Soundstream, Phoenix Gold, Alpine.

Fosgates are the cheapest of these, but their performance is excellent. 400 Watt RMS Subs, you should give them at least 250 - 350 Watts RMS from your amp. So look for a 250 X 2 or 300 X 2 amp. They should pound. I use to have 2 Cerwin Vega 12"s subs and I hit 144 dbs with them.

that would work, when you say 1200 watt amp, I suppose thats a four channel amp, so 300 X 4...or is it 600 X 2? And you must be talking about Peak Performance when say its a 1200 watt amp...or is that total RMS??

what happens when you give a sub more wattage then the RECOMMENDED RMS? lets say a sub has 200W RMS but a max power of 400W. If you give it lets say 250W from a MTX 6500D. will the subs blow easily?

the kicker kx1200.1 might be too much, the kx600.1 might be better.
kicker amps put more power than rated most of the time (around 100rms more). i dont know if u have DVC 4 ohms or SVC 4 ohms, so i can't really tell u wat impedance you would be runnin @ and thus a better match for your subs.

gain control is NOT a volume control.

JL 1000/1 nice, choice very $$$ too overpriced imo, but if u have teh money to waste it on this go ahead. they make great amps but $$$
