225/40s on a 18x7 vs. 225/40s on 18x8

when i got my rims, they only had 18x7s, so i got those with a 225.40.18 tire. now they have 18x8, but i would use the same tire size for that, since thats really the widest we should go.

but my question is, would my handling have any kind of advantage using the 8" wide rim over the 7" wide rim even tho i am using the same size tire?

i hope that isnt too confusing.

its a good queston, my only guess it what the diffrence is in the off set where this puts your wheel base but other than that 225 is all thats going to contact the pavement but i would save your money and get a change of rims at least this way you have to diffrnet types

I wonder.... I ask because I purchased some 18x7.5 with 45 offset and 225/40 tires, but the dealer said they would be on back order for at least another month. He said that he could get 18x8 with 42 offset in right away and they would fit just fine. With the drop though, I would have to roll the fenders.

Just the Pro-kit drop, but what do you all think? Same tire size though.
