Install tweeter in door next to midbass?

Hey guys, I am going to be upgrading my stock system soon in '02 AV6 coupe and I wanted to know if anyone had installed the tweeter from their component sets in the door in close proximity to the midbass? Specifically, I don't want to cut any holes in my door panel to install the tweeter. I'd rather hide it all behind the panel.

It's my understanding that the best sound from a component set will come if the tweeter is located in close proximity to the midbass (like custom kicks or Qlogic Qforms). I don't want to install custom kicks (or Qforms) for 2 reasons: 1) I dont want to spend the time or money on em; 2) I like having the floor space (and dead pedal)

Has anyone setup their components like this? If so, was it difficult? Is there anything that I need to watch out for in the process of doing an install such as this?

Thanks.
Ben

i don't think it's possible to have components and install the tweeter anywhere in the door without having to cut a hole, especially with our weird shaped speaker grills. However, if you haven't bought any speakers yet, CDT braxials are components with the tweeter mounted on the woofer like a coaxial. You could try those and i'm sure it will sound great. If worst comes to worst, you could mount the tweeters in the A-pillar (something easier to replace than a door panel i assume).

Like the braxials... use some plumber's backstrap and create a dome like structure and attach it to the MDF spacer for the speaker. voila you have the same thing CDT did... but with your choice of speakers. Just aim the tweet correctly.

I had considered the braxials, but I don't have the 4 bills required for the ones I want - HD-63. I have seen others manufacturers that have a similar setup (CTX I think), but don't know much about those speakers. I think I might try the MDF solution proposed by L_fty.

Thanks.
