Tan Interior Sucks! Is it possible to PAINT?

I cant find a lot of things that will make the tan interior unique. Is it possible to paint the dash and have it look decent? No sparco seats match the tan interior, no dash kits (other than woodgrain) match it...its geting boring inside the car! Is it possible to buy all the plastic pieces in the charcoal gray and then paint the dash? And get black sparcos..and a black momo steering wheel. That would look nice...What did all of you tan interior peeps do?

you got a point there...but i always thought that a brushed metal kit would look nice...for seats, i've seen racing bucket seats that are tan (some brand i never heard of though)...or you can do like someone did and swap the entire interior to black...i'll try to find a pic of those seats

Amen! I've got tan leather, it's dirty and I've scrubbed untill my hand went numb and it still looks dirty. I want new seats too and have the same problem, nothing matches!

Ahh, Las Vegas. I've been there 9 times and loved each trip.

Anyway, I have a tan interior and like it. I keep it clean using eagle one leather cleaner. I added the wood trim(plastic) around the radio and climate controls and it looks good. I don't know, maybe its because I am a little older than most members, but I think it looks kind of classy. I do get many compliments on the interior. Even my silver face gauges look good. I have seen some guys on the board do the interior in carbon fiber or gun metal. Do a search and check some pics. You will find something you will like.

Have fun, maybe I will see you at the Mandaly Bay!!!

Talk to Samir (Viper), he's done it. See what he has to say.

You can paint the seats but the paint will start cracking and peeling faster than you can say s***. I recommend a leather kit. I got a Katzkin kit for my Acura from leatherseats.com and it was $550 through a groupbuy which was about 20% off. The quality was very nice and you get a lot of options to choose from.

you can dye leather. you need to talk to some upholstery pros or shop online for an upholstery shop that sells fabric/natural material dye. you are talking about a major pain in the [email protected]@ though.

Major pain in your wallet i say.

Changing your whole interior color shouldn't be too difficult.
Most of the "show" cars change their interior color.
its matter of how much cash it'll take ...

The Quartz grey interior on my 99 is the best of both worlds. Doesn't always look dirty and goes good with both metal and wood trim . It isn't easy to order interior parts in this color, I should know .

I don't think you can do very much to the interior unless you change it out completely. If you want a subtle and tastefully done interior, then try

www.leatherique.com

They have a custom dye service that is reasonably priced. Just send them a swatch of your leather and then send them a sample of color that you want and they will match it. Stay with the tan interior but dye your seats a light ivory color. Something like a Jaguar interior. Just don't dye it white.
Their rejuvenator oil has completely made my seats feal SOFTER than when it was new! It works better than connelly hide food but costs three times as much. You get what you pay for though.

As for the dash parts, I really like the birds eye maple on the new 7th gens. There is a place,

www.wooddash.com

They can match that pattern and do it for a reasonable price.

here is my ideas on chaning my tan interior

1 - I can get a hook up on the carpet, both dash upper and top panels left and right door panels for coupe and rear window trim left and right panels. Also the guy is including the pillars and the rear deck plus the center console, all for $350 off a 2002 Coupe accord. For the seats im switching to Sparco Torino in black

OR -

2 - Memeber on this weboard had a good idea he did his dash and center console and door panels in black cloth I think his user name was M something, he had OEM black carpet i think and for me id do the same only thing is id get the sparco racing seats

3 - Keep the tan and black do black sparco racing seats do black carpet change out the door leathet trim part and do black and ch ange center console.....change headliner to black also and to part of dash i saw a red copue that had this idea ill post pics later

Hey there. Yeah, Tan interiors are a pain to work with, because..well..lets face it, most of the interior work is involved with the traditional black interior with alloy or chrome trim. I mean its so simple its crazy! For the interior of my car I installed some Silver Reverse El Glow gauges by Bomz Racing (I can post pics if you'd like) and I panted my bezel and other trim a slightly metallic black and its a vast improvement, in my opinion, over the stock quasi-aluminum-quasi-alloy trim, which was "okay" but I wanted it to look cleaner. The black trim really helped to clean up the interior of my car and I highly recommend this paint scheme. I've tried everything from red to ice blue and nothing looked as good as black. Of course, this is only my opinion. Let me know if you want any pics of my inteior as well.

Also, another thing to try, if you take out color by painting your trim black, is to mess with the honda emblem on your steering wheel. Right now I have a Red Honda Steering Wheel Emblem for a Civic that I'm modifying to fit properly; the red emblem adds back a little more color in just the right amount; I chose red because my car is red. So yeah, tan interiors are extremely difficult to work with, given the products on the market, but with a little creativity you can create a great, custom interior look to your car. Oh gosh that sounded like a product label

come on guy, don't do it, you will regred it like i did. I painted every possible color there is, and it look good for three day. I just swap a whole new Tan interior in my car and love it. It cost for 1G for the new leather interior. The Dashboard is a pain in the asss to swap. If you have any question feel free to ask.
