Buying SUBS

i have a 00 accord coupe v6, and im planning on buying some nice subs for my car. i was looking at rockford fosgate, becuase i hear they are good and reliable. But i was looking online and i found power acoustiks 12'' dual voice coil which pumps out twice the power of the 12'' HE2 from RF...i am definetly clueless on car audio, but i wish to become more savvy...if someone could help me out on what would be good for my car, and wha others have tried with a coupe and succeded with i would appreciate it - peace

also, what kinda amp should i get??

That would be tons of bass, but for starters try the Jl 12w3v2 with the Jl 500/1.

RF are some good subs, but remember to power them correctly.. 12inc he2 are really good so i hear. try either the 700x from RF or the JBL 1200.1 ikesound.com has them cheap..

thats only around $2000. go to a good car audio sit eand see what people recommend for your budget range. my current sub (ID MAX) and amp (Lanzar 1200d) together cost less then 1 w7 or 1000/1 and its probably as loud as the w7 for half price or less.

What kind of Dbs are you hitting?

It may be loud but i doubt it can hit the low notes the W7s handle with ease. Ive sat in alot of cars and never heard anything handle the way a W7 does.

get 1 12" adire brahma or 1 12" eD XXX ....... 140db off that sub and a JBL 1200.1... even tho i would recommend a diff amp... the subs handle 1600 watts rms and 4800 peak... and are set up for ultimate SPL and SQ both... check HHU and audiosiege.com lots of support for both subs...

i used to have 2 - RF 10" HE2 those hit really good. powered by the RF 500a2 amp. i think i got mine for 800$ all together. right now i have 2 - 10" s10L7 Kicker SoloBarricks. i would highly reccomend i got mine for 190 each.. retail for 300$ im sure if you look around you can find the same price. are you stuck on 12"s or would you maybe go with 10"s. 12"s may hit a little deeper but 10"s will be a lot more responsive. you can find some 10"s that will sound like 12"s though too.

I have only had my MAX for a week now, but i'm sure it can get ever low note a w7 can get. I haven't go tit metered yet.

here is a video of my MAX

w7 is on par with the idmax, brama, elemental a, xxx, and a few more. the point is that the w7 is the only one priced double the others.

how are you planning on getting signal to your sub? aftermarket HU?
are you looking to shake people next to you, or do you just need a little more low end?

10's in general hit harder
12's in general are capable of going lower

i say in general because a 12 with 900w will hit harder than a 10 with 300w, 10s are able to hit harder because the 'hit' is usually a higher freq, and a 10 physically has less cone to move.

adding a sub is just like buying a car, what you pay for is usually what you get, and one crappy component or one that isnt capable of performing on the level of the rest will make it not worth your while.

just my $.02

actually 12s hit harder 10s hit tighter. If you listen to rock, or techno then a 10 is better because they bass hits in that type of music are usually closer together. For rap and R&B a 12 is better because the bass is emphasized in those types of music and the bass is more "boomy." And a good set of 12's can still handle playing most rock and techno pretty well. Ive had both and i love 12's soo much more.
