Looks good, I'd wet sand it to smooth it out and get rid of that orange peel effect, and then polish it

That "orange peel" may actually be the pebble finish of the engine cover. I don't know about 6th gens, but the 7th gen cover has that pebble finish molded into it. If that is the case on his, then wet sanding it won't remove it. It would have had to have been smoothed out (using body filler or a high-build primer for instance) before applying the final finish.

Thanks for the comments guys, and yes the plastic is molded like that, personally I like my "orange peel effect"

edit: Should I paint the coils as well? Or is that too much?

Sorry, but it took me a long time and $10 isn't enough for labor.
As for the other suggestions and questions:

I have ram air on my intake custom made to look stock
http://www.v6performance.net/forums/...ram+air+intake

My car has discs all aroud so no brake shoes to paint. Either way ran out of paint so I would need to get mroe and it costs $24 for the paint including all fees and charges.

that paint is from Tower Paint.

go to Towerpaint.com and enter in the color code of the color you want.

then they will send you the paint. it actually matches very well.

You can get the primer and clear coat from walmart but as my first post and Andy said I got the red color from towerpaint.com

Its holding up pretty nicely but I wouldn't touch it with my dirty hands anymore. It feels like you can leave fingerprints in the clear coat.

In the future I would use shiny clear coat, some filler primer that is more easily sanded. Actually sand the primer better... wet sand the paint (didn't do it, but should) then repaint then do the clearcoat carefully. Don't get clearcoat happy that can ruin everything. I baked the smaller pieces in the oven to get a better clear coat look, helps I would say.

They do offer a graphite (more gunmetal) color for wheels, you could probably use that, Walmart also has it, but their paint service is very slow most of the time. I mean really slow, like wait 20min for someone to find the god damn key slow.

Hey man, nice job!

I have a question for the rest of you though. Have any of you just used regular spraypaint to paint your engine covers? I did and it came out pretty good,, but I don't know what clearcoat I should use to clearcoat them so that they're all shiny. Any suggestions?
