Fitting 00+ CL Seats in 01 Accord coupe..

Ok i would like to make a switch of seats..

I have cloth seating in my coupe, with side airbags in the front seats.
The easiest would be to swap 01-02 accord coupe leather seats, but i really like the look of the Acura CL ones.. Especially if i would be lucky enough to get cl-s

The thing is i am wondering about the Airbag system. Are they the same ? Same plugs..? Same...heu..specs..? I mean would it be plug and play?
I want to keep the functionnality of the airbags, so this is why i wonder if its a fit or not..

hate to raise a zombie long dead thread, but, i have the same question. i'd like to add another question, tho: ARE THE CL SEATS MORE COMFORTABLE THAN MY SEATS?!? they're so hard on my back.

My other question is if the power stuff and everything works with the wiring on the accord. if i did the swap, i don't want to have to re-wire stuff. i'm lazy.

ok

cl-s seats are very comfy. seat brackets mount in same spot. you need to completely wire the passenger seat for power. and you need to wire up the heated seats on both sides if you wanted. id hold out til you get the CL-S seat. good luck trying to find. patience is your best bet for the best for your car. u've waited this long whats a few more months lol
ohhh yea forgot to mention. the airbag system is the same. acura is honda. just keep that in mind. haha

well thanks for the info!!

I'm still with the cloth seats lol, never had the occasion to look for CL-S ones.

For the wiring, especially if you start with non-power seats, of course wiring will be required. It doesnt bother me much, i'll just grab some wiring diagrams and give it a shot

My only worry was the SRS compatibility, to be legal (and safe), i need it to work flawlessly

where do you get the wiring diagrams? i have the EX and the only power anything it has makes the seat go up and down, everything else is manual. did any accord have more power controls than that?

I have a 01 EX with seats just like you.

When i bought the car, i found on ebay a factory manual for 98-00 accord, wich is 99% the same than what i have. I use the wiring diagrams from this manual most of the time, but i also have Mitchell on Demand, wich is practical sometimes, but not as much as the factory manual.

The accord EX with leather interior (or V6 model) has 8-way power+heated seat (driver). Ours only have 1-way power (up+down). Wiring would be required for the rest. Ideally, you could make a "standalone" fusebox for it, and use OEM connectors/switches (for heater) + DIY wiring/fusing. That's what i would do.

so, if i had the 8 way power, the CL seats would be a direct swap (the passenger seat is not 8 way power, tho)?

ok, sorry to resurrect this thread (again), but i finally got my hands on the seats I am looking for. I need to get the factory manual for my car and for the cl-s. I have a haynes manual and it has wiring diagrams, but I don't think there are any for the seats. I'm going to look closer tonight. But, from looking at my seats, here's what I've found:

Drivers side, 3 plugs:
1st - 2 wires, yellow tape going around - airbags (easy)
2nd - 2 wires - up/down switch
3rd - 3 wires - seat belt.

Passenger side, 3 plugs:
1st - 2 wires, yellow tape going around - airbags (easy)
2nd - 4 wires - SRS system
3rd - 3 wires - seat belt.

Hopefully, the seat belt, SRS, and airbag plugs will be the same. Here's my plan:

1. find a wiring diagram for the 8 way power accord seats, find one at a junk yard, and see where they plug in and all that.

2. find a wiring diagram for the cl-s seat and see what's different.

A few questions:

1. is the passenger side in the 8 way power accord powered, or just the driver's side? i imagine that's a 'duh,' yes it is, but i want to make sure.

2. Does anyone have the wiring diagrams, or a place where I could get them?

I've been wanting to put these seats in my car for a loooong time, and now that i've got them, i'm pretty committed to this project. Whatever i find, i'll post up and maybe we can get a nice write-up. this seems to be a common question with no real guide on how to do it.

One of the guys on here has a useful link in his signature, I'm pretty sure it's accompanied by a pictar.

Anyway, it looks like you can pull all the info you need.

It's like $10 for three days...

I'm gonna try it myself next time I need really technical data.

passenger seat isnt powered just the driver's. i doubt the connectors would be the same in the accord and cl but i bet you could still get it to work.

i'm looking thru the manual to find all the useful info and then i'll send it to you

I'm sorry. That's wrong.
I have CL seats in my Accord and they're 8-way power driver's and 4-way power passenger.

I *may* have a wiring diagram/pin-out for the driver's seat, does your seat have the memory feature with the control unit?

Check this thread tomorrow.

What have you got done so far? I know I have the pin-out for the driver's seat but not for the passenger's.

so far, just read the pinout for the accord driver's 8 way power seat. my cl seats should come in tomorrow, and i've ordered service manuals on CD for the cl and accord. I don't know if there's any difference between the cl and the cl-s seat wiring, but there's a cl in a junkyard close to here. I'm going to go to the junkyard and compare the wiring to the wiring in a power seat accord.

so, basically, here's my plan:

1. find out the differences between the cl (and cl-s, possibly) and accord power seat wiring

2. get the wiring from a local junkyard cl

D. start rigging up the wiring.

My goal is for the installation to be as close to OEM as possible, so we'll see how that goes. hopefully it's more "clean installed" than it is "rigged."

the difference between the cl and accord power seats is basically the memory and heat. as long as the wiring for the memory and heaters goes to the seat, and not to anywhere else, this should be relatively simple. but, from my experience working on cars, it won't be. i'll probably have to swap ECU's or transmissions or something like that (joke)

the dude at the junkyard hooked me up with the pigtails and the heated seat switches, which is pretty cool, and may help me figure out what's going on. heh.. just a side note, i was bidding for some seats on ebay and some punk outbid me in the last few seconds and i lost the seats. so i got mad and called up this junkyard. i'm getting these seats for $30 less, including shipping, than the guy on ebay who sniped me. also, i'm getting pigtails and heated seat switches with the seats. how rad is that?

You're in for a rude surprise with the driver's seat.

by rude surprise, did you mean because there's a massive plug with tons of wires coming off of it? gotcha.

Seats came in today. they look good, there's a small rip on one. other than that they're in really good shape. i'll get a picture posted.

here's the wiring situation:
driver's side:
plug 1: airbag - 2 wires
plug 2: 18 (!!!) wires

passenger side:
plug 1: airbag - 2 wires
plug 2: srs, probably? - 4 wires
plug 3: controls - 14 wires

i think my next step will be to pull the wiring out of a junkyard CL, along with the memory seat switch. any suggestions other than that? is there a difference in the wiring between and base CL and a cl-s?

i didn't clean them up or anything. i guess it doesn't matter since it's a cruddy cell phone picture with bad lighting. you can see a small hole in the passenger seat, that's all that's wrong with the set.
