if you have the money definitely get the alpine but if you are on a budget get the pioneer. it plays mp3's and is a great deck.

I suggest the Pioneer DVH-P5000MP .

Man this on might not look as good as the others but it is loaded with features . If your going to go aftermarket, go for it all .

svp, I'm confused...you have up there multiple types of HUs but you never told anyone what you were looking for in an HU... are the above within your budget or just random HUs you saw here and there? Tell me what you're looking for... ? If it were me, and I were choosing a HU.. I'd look into the following things:

1) Quality DAC bit conversion?
2) Aesthetic looks, that ride more on classy style?
3) Good/Better AM/FM reception?
4) 2-3preouts?
5) Healthy 4-5 volt pre-out voltage (this wont matter if you plug into a line driver down the chain)?
6) Ease of use, face not to cluttered, buttons clearly labeled and easy to use while flying down the highway at 90mph...?
7) Pause/mute button?
8) Face protection/theft control?
9) Face readout in direct sun possible?
10) Subwoofer control/phasing?(not important if running into EQ)
11) Lastly, Ability to change crossover points for interior speakers?(not important if running into EQ)

So take the above questions/opinions into consideration before you plunk down 2-3-4hundred for a HU. Most noobs see a fawken LCD screen and seem to jack off to that without considering the "important" aspects of what a HU needs to do.

hope that helps some...

I wont pick from the HUs you have listed. But I will say that ALpine, Clarion, Eclipse, Nakamichi, Pioneer have all been HUs I've used/heard/experienced in the past and all of them get a thumbs up from me for quality... some better than others in different departments of use and feature. But in the end the final decision will be based on individual's needs, likes and his/her personality(believe it or not ).

1)im assuming this is for MP3s in which case is very important
2)looks are very important also although i am willing to settle for quality
3)Better FM AND AM reception
4)3 preputs...i have subs and like to be able to control it from the head unit
5)its going it a 1600 watt amp so 4volts would be nice
6)ease of use it very important(i had a pioneer 840MP before and found that easy to use)
7)not all that important
8)not all that important
9)very important(i drive with the sun roof open)
10)yes very important(see #4&5)
11)yes that would be nice but im looking for components for front(i think i was talking to u about this before)

acouple of extra things...
-an aux in would be nice if built-in but i would settle for an adapter if the the headunit without is better then the one with and Aux in
-i am planning on adding a dvd player
-yes those are within my price range up to $350
-like i mentioned before i used to own a Premier 840MP i was happy with it but it didn't seem to have the kick my friends 640 had...but im taking this pretty serious and am really trying to research these to get the best head unit i can afford with all the features i like

if anyone has any other suggestions please post them

I think you should get the all in one AM/FM/CD/MP3/DVD player, because it would make for a cleaner install. If I had to do it all over again, I might go this way but I already had my dvd player.

The good thing about having them separate though, is you can have a cd or the radio playing while the dvd is loading.

Plus, I think if I have an mp3 cd in my dvd player, it shows the title and all that on the screen, but I haven't checked yet.

Just tryin to help out, but I can't really tell you since I haven't had any of those headunits before.

ok so i just went to circut city to listen to all of these...they only had models that where one model down from the choices i was looking at but for i figured for the most part the only differences are MP3 compatibility...so here are my thoughts...

Alpine CDA-9815 (tested Alpine CDA-9813)
-very good highs but bass was lacking
-not very loud
-controls alittle confusing

Clarion ProAudio DXZ835MP(not tested)

Panasonic MXE CQ-DFX983U(tested Panasonic MXE CQ-DFX903U)
-very surprised with this one
-bass was amasing
-highs were alittle lost in bass
-great display
-easy controls
-lacking fine tuning options

Pioneer DEH-P7500MP(tested actual)
-overal weak
-very easy controls
-great fine tuneing
-lacking that punch though

JVC Arsenal KD-LH3150(not on list but tested)
-sounded good
-nice options
-i would like to ad this to the list

JVC KD-DV5000, you can find if for around $500.

I have the KD-SH99, love it, but plan on getting something new in about a month or two.

I have no problems with reception. Sound quality is excellent, all 3 preouts are 4.5 volts, what I really liked was the the subwoofer preout has a volume gain(which you can turn the sub off or lower or raise the volume) it was hard to find a hu with one that I liked.
Other than that, I really like this radio, but have to move on to newer and better hu's.

The panasonic would actually be my last choice. I prefer them making TVs and cordless phones..

Otherwise with the Eclipse out, I would go for the Pioneer or the Alpine next. Nothing bad to say about the JVC Arsenal line either though. Just IMO not the Panasonic.

no it does exist...even with a 6.5" screen but its $1300...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=32825

the next best bet is the Pioneer that i have listed...its only single din though
