Did I get ripped on this security system?

I just spent a total of $419 today for an alarm system install.
Let me know if I get ripped and if so how bad. At the time I feel like I was getting a good deal, but now that I think about it....

Price break down:

$300 for a DEI Viper 650XV installed.
$30 for a motion sensor add-on with install.
$60 for a two-year in store extended warranty.
$XX equals the 8.3% tax.

Total $419 out of my wallet.

I know I should have done some research first, but how is this alarm? I had a choice between this one or the Clifford RS3. The guy told me that they share the same brain and freq. antenna. Just the sirens and remotes are differnt. I decided to go with the Viper because I liked the Blue LED, activation/deactivation chirp, and the size of the remote. Although the Clifford did have that carbon fiber look going for it.

Thanks for your opinions.

Does your alarm come with that little keychain thing that shows if someone is braking into your car?

Anyways I think it was worth the money .

No he was going to give the responder for the regular cost.
500 w/ remote start
500 w/o remote start

He actually suggested not getting that remote because they get a lot of return on them

Yea I only felt like I was getting a good deal because the sales manager was fairly honest. He didn't push me to get anything, but the extended warranty. He did bring me back in to their stock room to show me all the bad alarms which were going to be sent back to viper. I also some cliffords in there.

yeah thats a pretty fair deal....by the way DEI owns almost every alarm name out today. Clifford, viper, hornet, and many others i cant think of are all DEI products. and DEI sucks IMO.

There is Code out of Ohio, they make a pretty decent alarm...the alpine is good, but you need to get the HU to make it really cool.

It was a fair price at best. The worst part of it is the 2 year warranty thing they banged you for. Viper has a lifetime warranty anywhere in the world. After 2 years there is a small fee for the "upgrade" they usually do. This goes by the datecode on the brain itself. The store pretty much just made an extra $60 for nothing.

Sidenote: I do at least 15 Viper alarms a week and have zero problems, if that shop has that many bad alarms, its them, not DEI.
