Amp Recommendations?

I have some amps that I am interested in, but I would like to hear any other recommendations out there. I would like the JL Audio Amps but they are very hard to find online, therefore I would have to pay a premium for them. These are the amps I am looking at now:

For the full range speakers:

Precision Power PCX480

Alpine MRV-F540

For the Sub:

Precision Power PCX1250

Alpine MRD-M500

Anything else that you recommend that would be around the same price range?

For what kind of subs and what is the VC setup @ how many ohm?

I would go with the JBL BP 600.1 or 1200.1 you should be to find both in that price range. Or if you can find a Orion HCCA 225 G4 then you would be set.

MY old Orion HCCA 224 G4 hit cleaner than my JBL BP 600, but the Orion is also a Class AB amp.

I am not 100% sure what sub I am going to get but most likely it is between these two:

JL Audio W6v2

JL Audio W3v2

I am not going with any fancy enclosures so I was hoping to go with a prefab box from JL as I listed above.

Where can you purchase all of the JBL and Orion products online? Not through E-Bay, I would prefer to actually go through an online shop like CBR.

I've purchased a few items from carmedia1.com, with great success. Good prices and excellent service.

You cant go wrong with PPI. Solid design and low imput voltage requirements(12volts)... thus you get more output wattage when the alt(engine running).. 13-13.8volts

Thanks L_fty. I assume the that Precision Power amps do not have line converters built into them, so do you happen to know of a line converter / line driver that will work well with the 7 gen system? The last time I had to purchase one was almost 10 years ago, so I don't know what's the best thing to look for and so forth.

What kind of full range speakers are you plannin' on runnin'?

I recently was able to do a "taste test" comparing the
Alpine MRV-F540 with the
JL 300.2
on a set of MB Quart RSC 216s, no EQ.

I have to say that I liked the Alpine amp more. It was not really easy to hear the difference, both very clean sounding. The Alpine seemed to be more musical and dynamic. Also, it seemed to match the tambour of the bright MB Quart speakers better than the basically even sounding JL amp. Again I need to say that it was difficult to hear the difference.

I haven't heard the PPI amp. Really want to though.

http://www.spectravox.com/lc300cl.html $8.69
http://www.tune-town.com/Cars/stuff/model_sni.htm $29.99

PAC is a quality brand... cant go wrong with their stuff.
But when it boils down.. most any line out converter will do it's job

Schosche makes one as well...

Harder to find JL products online because JL doesnt allow online sales like most of the major/higher end companies including PPI. Just go to a local shop, or if youd like let me know what specifically you are looking for and I may be able to help. I carry all the lines listed above and then some.

The ones that you do have listed....I would pick the PPIs first then the Alpine, then the JLs. Just my opinion. Long time veteran of the 12volt industry...

I used the Audio Link PL-2 in my car as I typically use them in customers cars as well for line level convertors, no problems as of yet..

Hey 6sp; what about the Alpine MRP-F240
http://r1.east.rmi.yahoo.com/rmi/htt...p?i=500MRPF240

You heard/any opinions on that? Remember I was the one talking about hissing noise and you said RF might not be the best; think that'd be better than my RF Punch 300x?

The only 4 channel JL I can find is the 300.4 which puts out 75 watts per channel which I think is
A] Probably way more than I need b/c my 37.5 is more than I need
B] Only have stock speakers; atlho I know if I keep it down probably would be fine...

Thanks for the information.

I have been looking at two other units that I ran across, so please tell me what yall think of them.

Phoenix Gold Tantrum TLD22

Audiobahn ALD28X

These units are a good bit more expensive but they also work as line drivers. What I am trying to elminate is any amplifier hiss so to speak. That is why I am concerned with getting the best signal possible from the stock head unit.

The PPI's look good especially considering that they put out good power at a low voltage. Having internal fans is a major plus too. The size and shape of the unit is the only thing that may cause trouble, but most likely I will get them.

Oh internal speakers... I plan on getting the Focal Polyglass 165V2 and the Focal Polyglass 690CV.

Has anyone heard or used a Line Converter and Line Driver combo like I listed above?
