Taking off the strip on the side???

How do you go about taking off the plastic strip on the side of the car on a 1999 accord coupe v6 so everything is flush? does it mess up the paint?

I dont think it would mess up the paint. I would use someting like goo-gone to loosen the adhesive and pull it off. The only thing might be that the paint under the strip might be darker than the paint on the rest of the car with would have faded from being in the sun. Maybe taking off a little from the bottom and seeing the difference in shade might be the best.

I took mine off with my fingernails. It took forever, but i got it done. Use youre thumbail, thats what i used. But i would probably use goo gone and try it that way. As far as the paint goes, mine is almost impossible to tell. In direct sunlight you can tell when looking for it. I have a white car so it might be different on other colors.

Someone told me there are holes that I would need to fill in. Is that true? Or are the strips just held on by adhesive glue?

Are you talking about the pin-stripe or the side molding?

Pin stripe peels off...The side molding requires you to weld metal over the holes and gap it leaves in your door, prime and repaint.

Are you referring to this?

Because if you look at the installation directions (PDF format) you'll see that the molding is actually double sided taped to the car. What that means is that if you can remove that mold, there is a smooth surface underneath it.

WTF....didn't know coupes had the side molding too. I know the Sedans have holes underneath them, may that's why you were told that.

I wanted to take mine off but it's going to cost to much to fill in the holes, prime and re-paint all 4 doors.
