Smile /---My Carbon Fiber Engine Covers---\

They got finished about a week ago... Im missing some of the hardware, but im tracking it down (everything was off in my garage chillin for about 2 yrs before i decided to do this)

Heres a couple shots of the engine covers on the engine....

Heres a shot of the window/lock control bezel i did on the drivers side..the passenger side is also doen. Ill probably do the air vents also..

I might be willing to make these for people, depending on how much time I have with school, and also if I have an area to do it at my new house (havent seen the house yet)

They arent molds, they are just the oem covers wrapped.

I havent thought about a price because no one has shown interest yet....

i got the twill from ebay, and i got the epoxy from a guy in town, ut they also have it on websites online and on ebay. just search "2x2 carbon fiber twill" to get the carbon fiber, and search "carbon fiber resin" for that.

This was my first time doing anything with CF, and the whole process is pretty easy, just labor intensive.. sanding=lots of time

as far as price goes...for the materials to cover all the covers, would end up costing me about 60-70 dollars, then i would just need to figure out a fair hourly charge for the labor..

ComptechV6, shoot me a PM with what other things you would want done besides engine covers..

this can also go for everyone else that would want anything, send me a PM and let me know what parts you would like to see wrapped

Short DIY (No pics because camera is broken)

Supplies: Roll of 2x2 twill carbon fiber (or whatever twill you wish), Clear drying resin(can usually find at some places where you buy the CF fabric), Spronge brushes for applying resin, Latex Gloves, Dremel with sanding tips and cutting wheel, sand paper (grits from 220-2000)

Process:
1. cut piece of CF from your roll of fabric, be very careful when doing this because you can mess up the pattern of the weave. Make sure the piece of fabric is large enough to cover all areas you want covered.
2. Have your resin mixed with its hardner waiting to be applied, and apply directly to the piece you want wrapped. But a nice thick coat on.
3. Apply the CF fabric you cut out to the piece to be wrapped. Smooth all the edges down. As you do this it is helpful apply another coat.
4. Apply another coat. For areas that want to straighten out, spend time im smoothing them down. After about 10 or so minutes the resin starts to harden, so take this into advantage for the troubled areas, using it like glue..
5. When the resin is hard enough, use a dremel or any other rotary tool and trimm the CF back to the edges.
6. Apply many more coats, I personally applied about 5 coats.
7. Let the wrapped pieces set for two days. If more hardener is used that instructed, then this waiting period doesnt need to be as long.
8. After the waiting period, wet sand the pieces, starting off with a 200-220 grit, work youre way up to 2000 grit. Make sure to be carefull and not sand all the way thru the resin and into the CF.
9. Once done sanding, they should look really hazy. But when wet with water is what they will look like when 100% done.
10. tape off all the CF parts, and paint any part that will show but not covered with Cf black. I used engine paint since it can withstand the heat caused by the manifold.
11. Now its time to clear coat them. Apply 2-4 coats of clear coat and let dry.
12. Sit back and look at your badass custom CF wraps

Words of Wisdom: always wear latex gloves while applying the resin, if you get resin on your skin it is hard to get off, but acetone can be used to remove it. Wear a long sleeved t-shirt and face mask when sand down/trimming the CF, if not, the CF dust irritates the skin badly. If you find trouble spots where the CF has lifted from the surface, put resin inbetween the CF and the surface.

I will try and get pictures taken as I work on another pieces so that you have images to go along with the DIY. Good Luck to people that try this, and if y oure too afraid to, remember that it was my first time doing this. And if your still too afraid too, Remember...ill do it for you

I was thinking of doing the CL-s battery cover, but i figured it would be too much...

mostly anything is possible, just depends on how complex the curves and angles are.

Are you selling those bezels? if so, how much?

I dont want to start taking orders quite yet, im going to be moving uup to Eugene next weekend and after I get more supplies, i can start taking orders and having people send me whatever they need done. People can go ahead and send me PMs, ill do it in a first come/ask basis. I also need to crunch some numbrs and figure out prices on specific parts
People can make a list on here of what they would like to see...

So far ive had more than 1 request for..
-Engine covers
-Window Control Bezels
-Cl-S Battery Cover

Ill try and come up with a price list for obvious items tonight and post it by tomorrow.

Ive contacted Maurice and am awaiting approval to sell these to members. I have come up with a price listed that includes shipping, and will post it once given the Go from Maurice.
