Generic lower rear tie bar + stock exhaust = ?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Honda...Q5fAccessories

^^ that in question

Will it fit with a stock exhaust? I have a V6, LeeAnn has a 4cyl. We both like how these look and I was wondering if the bar would work with either car because of our stock exhaust systems. I thought I read on here a while back that it would get hit by the exhaust.

Looked under my car, and I seem to have a very small amount of room to work with, mainly on the passenger side where I think the piping would be in the way.

Under LeeAnn's car, there looks to be an exhaust hanger attached to the piping exactly where the bar would go.

Any ideas, or should we skip out on this mod?

And yes I realize the suspension benefits are minimal and/or non-existant, just like the look mainly.

Eh I'd spend the 15 bucks on a nice dinner. They do look cool but like you said, there might be some issues with getting it on. I know I'd be able to use it but others aren't quite as fortunate.

Take Leeann out or go see a movie or something lol.

Thanks for the pics Keychain.. are you sure both of those cars have stock exhaust?

And you really don't have to squat down to see it, unless you're standing next to the car I guess.. it's visible from far away (i.e. someone driving behind you).

No Problem. The 4cyl looks to have a larger diameter of piping, and I have a full cat-back exhaust that has 60mm piping.

Well I'm pretty sure I would install it and then get the car aligned, it needs an alignment anyways, haha

Are you trying to say that having the bar there will loosen the bolts? If so, let me know how that works...

Allow me to explain a little more to what IcyAccord was saying.

Essentially, that thing shipped costs 30-40 dollars and is useless. yes, people might see it, but if they are in the know they aren't going to be impressed with it because its rice. Same deal with ebay brand strut tower bars. Neuspeed, eibach, or comptech strut tower bars, however, are both bling in the engine bay and functional.

if you want to put a bar down there near your rear wheels, spend 50 bucks on a TL rear sway bar. extremely functional mod, and hell, for another 5 bucks you can buy a can and spraypaint it any show-off color you want. people that see it might then think that you are looking for attention, but at least its showing off something effective and worth the money.

40 dollar piece of metal under your car that does nothing < 50 dollar piece of metal under your car that does a lot.

In fact I just looked up your car. You already have a generic strut tower bar. I don't think I have to tell you then how non-functional it is.

Ouch what? The eBay strut brace was $12 shipped to my door and I got it just because it was so cheap and I like how they look under the hood.

I've decided not to "waste" the money on the rear tie bar because I don't want to buy something that might not even fit on my car, considering I have no plans to put an aftermarket exhaust on it.

And since when is doing a mod purely for the appearance rice? Front lips, black housed headlights, window tint, crap like that - we all do it because we like how they LOOK. The function is the fact that we like the change it makes to the cars appearance. If I happen to like how a little shiny bar between my rear wheel looks, so be it. There's plenty of exterior mods I see on this site that aren't my tastes but I'm not going to bash someone for it.

I just remembered i have one of these on my car. I wonder if it does anything...

I didnt notice a difference when i put it on at all, and i dont even see it. Its probably too rusted and blends in. Crazy socal folk dont drive on heavily salted roads 6 months of the year.

All good. Enjoy your $12 piece of metal.

Good call on not getting the rear tie though.

Ever since the appearance mod is a knock-off imitation of the real thing.

Form implying a non-existing function is rice.

That's why giant hood scoops and double decked spoilers are rice. Because the kid that slapped those onto his car isn't likely to have the 400 horsepower needed to make all of that downforce be of any use and the engine isn't some M5 V8.

Your examples of blackhoused headlights, lip kits, and window tint are not rice by any meaning of the word. Those are relatively respectable mods that don't pretend to be something they are not.

This concludes your lesson in rice for today.

o you know that rice has changed over the years and has had different meanings but you are still mostly correct.

Thanks. Yeah I have no doubt that it has evolved over the years. Can you think of anything that was once considered to not be ricey but now is? Or vice versa?

Did you ever finish designing in CAD (or was it solidworks?) that special intake manifold?

I know what rice is, and I don't need a "lesson" either. But comparing putting a small piece of metal underneath my car to a large hood scoop or an oversized wing is just ridiculous. Get over it.

It's okay, I wasn't comparing the three things as being equally ricey. I was just giving some rather obvious examples and having some fun with ya. Not to mention I lost my credit card yesterday so i wasn't in the best of moods.

fcuk what everyone says - if you want to get it, and you think it looks good just get it

i think fitament you can get around that - i've seen a few people on the boards get it done and it looks pretty cool IMO

so the question is "is it worth your money?"
