Replacing stock shocks

What shocks would you recommend that would improve the ride quality over stock shocks? I am not looking for a drop, I'll be riding on stock springs.

I don't want the cheapest or the most expensive, just something in the middle that will be reliable and give me better ride quality smoother so the damn road defects are less noticeable compared to stock shocks. Basically a upgrade over stock ones.

I was looking at Monroe Gas matics, KYB GR-2, Monroe Sensa Trac... they all seem in the affordable range from Advance Auto parts.

If you are still using the OEM type tire, the Michelin Energy MXV4, they are a hard riding tire. You may try another tire before replacing shocks. The Tire Rack website has tire survey result tables categorized by different tire types. The Michelin Exalto A/S's were a big improvement in ride and handling over the OEM Energy's.

+1 on the tires if they haven't been changed already, but most likely have since it's been about 10 years.

I'd consider the KYB GR2 or Tokico HP (Blues). I bought and installed a set of GR2s for my cousin's Civic off of Amazon. It was the cheapest I could find and probably still is.

The KYB's are great shocks. I replaced my stock shocks on my 86 jaguar XJS-v12 with those KYB's. They were great!

For price and performance you can't beat the GR-2's if your not gonna drop.

been a year you haven't changed it?

I've heard the KYB GR2 is the stock replacement.

The new Koni STR.T shocks should be a definite consideration. They are non-adjustable, and in an orange color.
