My 03 Honda Accord Build

After learning some things, seeing different things on others cars, I've decided to take my accord in a diffent direction than I previously anticipated. Did not realize there was so much you could do to an Accord, I'm rather impressed with the amount of available mods you can make.

I originally didn't have plans to mod this car beyong tint, fogs, wheels, tires and springs and my dvd/nav unit, but I've missed modding my mustangs, but can't afford to go buy the one I want right now, so I'll just jump into the Honda and have some fun, it'll keep me occupied, plan on keeping the car for a long long time anyhow, so why not, right?

I have decided to sell the RDX Wheels that I bought last January, and scrap that idea as I found another wheel that looked better and fits with what I want to do with the theme of the car.

I don't know that I'll necessarily do anything that hasn't been done before, but it'll be done in good taste, it'll be clean, done properly and you won't find any camber on the rear wheels here, or gawdy body kits, or extravagant rear wings. I don't like my cars to appear "loud". I like style, elegance, and finesse. Most changes will be subtle in nature, some noticeable but not "outlandish".

Current Modifications/Accessories

-------------------------------------------
5% tint on the side and rear windows
50% on the windshield windshield
foglights
6000K HID Ballasts for headlights and foglights
Pioneer AVIC-X940BT GPS Navigation Unit (w/ DVD Playback E-brake bypass), Sirius Satellite,
PACS Remote control unit w/ Pioneer remote
AM/FM/CD/MP3/DVD/Sirius Satellite Tuner/Ipod w/ cable
HD Radio Tuner Box
Traffic Box
Bluetooth enabled for pandora streaming via Android/iPhone
Bluetooth Hands free microphone mounted on drivers pillar
Remote Auto Start (so nice to have in the winter )
L.E.D. interior dome light bulbs and L.E.D. rear license plate bulb.

Repairs Needed
------------------
Replace Piston rings, valve stem seals, gaskets, and water pump and timing chain - goes to the shop on Sept 12, 2011 to repair bad oil control rings (a problem that was inherited when I bought the car) - fixed 9/18/2011
Replace front Windshield (cracked) - replaced 9/2/2011
Re-tint from Windshield 50% - done
Re-tint Passenger Side rear window (tint got scratched) - done
Repair scratches on rear bumper (re-paint)
Remove hail damage from roof and hood (minor hail damage, just need to be popped out via paintless dent removal)

Interior/Electronics

-------------------------
Polk Audio 6.5" door, Polk Audio 1" dash tweeters, Polk Audio 6x9" rear deck speakers- installed 9/20/2011
Dark Grey custom leather wrapped front and rear seats with Light Grey Suede Inserts (will have this done by a local car upholstery shop)
Mugen Brushed Stainless Steel Shifter Knob
Dynamat Interior/Doors/Rear Speaker Deck and Trunk
Add a pair of 10's in a sub box with an amp
I am also going to research what materials are used on the Acura's to make the interiors so quiet, and after I dynamat my interior, I'm going to put whatever Acura uses in their interiors in my honda to make the interior noise as quiet as possible for a luxury quiet ride.
Have a radio delete plate to put in place of the factory radio (may also look into somehow moving the Double din unit up in place of the factory unit and re-installing my cubbyhole if at all possible).

Exterior
-------------------------------
06-07 Front Bumper painted to match (no front license plate)
06-07 Front Upper and Lowe Grille
03-05 HPF Front Bumper Lip painted to match - ordered awaiting paint
06-07 Foglights
Lightly Smoked Headlights
Shaved Door Moldings
Repaint all Door/Window Trim Gloss Black (painting over the chrome trim and dull black trim pieces)
Add Factory OEM Rear Deck Spoiler
Repaint the car at some point (post college graduation)

Wheels and Suspension

--------------------------------
18" ASA AR3 V2 Machined Wheels with black lip - - done
Tein Front and Rear Lowering Springs (Possibly going with a coilover setup)
Sway Bar

Future Engine Mods
----------------------
currently in research and planning phase
6 speed manual transmission swap

since I only have limited funds, this will take me a bit to do, couple years, (still in college, only work 20 hours a week and gotta pay bills just like everyone else).

I'm learning two 3D-Animation programs right now in school, one is called Maya Autodesk 2012, the other is called Autodesk Alias Automotive 2012. Once I learn how to use them both, I will have 3D Renderings up of what my Accord is going to look like when its completed (most likely near the end of the fall semester if I'm not too busy).

I will update this thread as it progresses.

Here's what she currently looks like

Now I see, said the blind man! I think you owe a lot of apologies first, then the community will come. Just start slow and be grateful for all the help you will receive.

sounds like you have really good base to start with. you also have a great list of future mods as well. so i'm pretty sure this will have great outcome. but you better find that 03-05 lip as soon as you can before they're all gone!!! good luck on your build!!!

if one of my previous project car's was any indicator, I don't think any on here will be too disappointed in how this comes out.

I love the Mustang. Seems like you have done some great research on what mods you want. Good luck with the project!

Yeah, i know exactly what you mean. I had a Supra several years ago but sold it when I went to college. It sucks to let them go, but it gives you new opportunities I guess.

Well, my post count doesn't let me post images, but as soon as my post count is high enough I will post pics of the old Supra. It was a 1989 Toyota Supra Turbo painted gold with bronze wheels with polished lips. It had an intake and exhaust. Back to the original point of the post, I love the Mustang and I can't wait to see what you do with the Accord!

With regards to a 6 speed swap, you'd be a lot better off selling your car and buying one with a 6 speed. Probably be more cost effective to beef up the automatic and get a higher stall torque converter.

not buying a different car, because the 4 door EX sedans don't come with the 6 speed.

but I have connections so it's not going to be all that costly. on top of that, i can sell the 5 speed tranny and recoup some of my costs.

Actually, starting in 2006 (or maybe even 2005) you could get the sedan with a 6 speed.

Our test car was a 2006 Honda Accord EX V-6 with a six-speed manual transmission and navigation.
Probably not that many made though, just saying it might be easier if you can find one. I know a lot of the Maxima guys with the 5.5 gens ('02/03) want to swap the 6 speed for the 4AT but the cost and work to do the swap is pretty expensive, imagine it would be the same for our cars too.

ordered some Polk Audio 6.5" door, Polk Audio 1" dash tweeters, Polk Audio 6x9" rear deck speakers, 2 weeks ago, should be going in Monday afternoon. ready to get these blown speakers out so I can have some decent sounding tunes again, tired of hearing 2 good speakers, and 4 crackling/hissing speakers....drives me nuts.

you get used to it. the only issue I usually have, is backing up, but i just roll the windows down. im gonna get a low light backup camera before long for my NAV Unit, which will help, but really you're eyes adjust to it.

Speakers are now installed. Sounds much better! But my ipod cable went bad because there is only sound on one side when the ipod plays, but when a cd us in, sat radio is on or its fm radio it doesnt do it. so i am waiting on a new one to show up :/

everything fit perfectly, only thing we had to do was make a spacer for the door speakers.

Just had to adjust the ipod cable, was a pinched wire or bad connection on an rca. Works great now and the sound quality from the speakers is awesome.

My pioneer satellite module quit working the other day, but i just unplugged it and plugged it back in and came right back on. Everything is great. Kept the new ipod cable as a back up just in case. Sound quality is great and its good to have quality tunes back in the car again.
