What headlight bulbs to get?

Hey everyone.

Just had a headlight burn out on me and I was thinking that I would like to upgrade to something that is alot brighter and not the standard yellowish tint that comes with most stock headlight bulbs. I'm not familiar with brands or numbers as I am very new at this. From my research so far, people seem to like the Silverstar Ultra Brights. What should I get?

Thanks,

-Justin

These are the first thing to pop up in amazon. Are they any good?

they are supposed to be much brighter from the basic silvanias. Only problem is that they dont last nearly as long, one year if your lucky.

You're better off going with hid. Brighter, longer longevity, and inexpensive.

That sounds good there. So what are some good ones that you would recommend?

Also, I would prefer to order off of Amazon.

get HIR 9012. That is brighter then stock, last longer, and won't glare. Also why amazon? Got amazon credit? If you need a set PM me.

Amazon.com: Philips HIR2 9012 Standard Halogen Headlight Bulb, Pack of 1: Automotive
It says that they do not fit my model?

Also, Amazon has free shipping most of the time with hard to beat prices on top of that. Plus I've found that it is more reliable than ebay and other websites. Scams are not a big concern.

no that not a retrofit. That just using a different bulb

I can get new hid kits for you so PM me. But since you want to burn your amazon credit. I gave you the link for the bulbs. A basic retrofit with healdights is around the 500 range.

retrofit = Me putting this inside of your headlights

Then they look like this

and cut off is like this

^ that retro with some HIDs. Anything from 4300 k - 6000 k would give great light output.

If you don't retro get the 9012.... The trimming takes 30 seconds and they put out much more usable light. Its not a white look though but slightly cooler than stock. If you stay halogen and are interested in safety and longevity that's your best bet for 40$.

personnaly, I love my PIAA Intense White bulbs. They do great job, very bright and best bang for the buck. IF you don't mind about puting 500$ on lights.. maybe you should just change the bulb.

My 2 cent!

When you say they are slightly cooler than stock, what do you mean, because 9012 here is off the charts blue. Which in my opinion would be fine.

They are noticeably whiter... but similar to stock. Not as white as a Silverstar Ultra (4100k) but they last 3-4x as long . Their around 3700k I believe and stock is about 3300k don't quote me... but noticeably more usable light just not as fashionable. Illuminates farther down the road.

Oh your misinterpreting.. 9012 is not the color temp its the bulb name. I didn't get what you meant initially.

It would be nice and all, but as of right now I don't have the money for it. $500 is steep...

I know what you mean, as long as you just don't get HID's in there. I did that and now regret it, trying to push my cousin to the retro route as well, his 6th gen blinds me like crazy. The PIAA bulbs aren't that bad either, I had them in my high beams for a while but noticed that I wouldn't need them since the retro's do a good job so I switched them out to some LED ones that matched a little better with my turn signals.

The best recommended so far besides a retro are the HIR2 Philips bulbs by far. They just aren't the coolest color but the longest life and best output.

You can, but I would recommend you away from it as when you use your high beams, it will only be mainly to flash or keep them on for a very short amount of time, unless you are going around with the high's on everywhere you go blinding everyone while you are doing it. Since they are on for a short amount of time they will not be able to heat up properly and in my opinion is a mod not needed. It can be done though. I would either go with a different bulb to give you better output and save some money while you are at it. But hey, I am just another guy on the internet.
