adding aux-in on an '04 accord factory radio?

We have an '04 Accord V6 coupe with the factory 6-disc CD player. What is the cheapest, easiest way to add an aux-in to the factory unit?

Also does the factory unit have any pre-amp outs to feed an amp, or should I use the rear speakers as a signal?

I just installed this USA spec module into my 03 EX coupe the other day, i should have done a write up but oh well. streams music from your phone. sound quality is great and the bluetooth phone system is decent. also lets you change songs and answer calls with the stering wheel buttons.
Amazon.com: USA SPEC BT35-HON Honda OEM Radio Bluetooth Phone and Music Adapter: Cell Phones & Accessories

there is also the PIE aux input device which is just a straight audio input, has RCA input jacks that with an adaptor can be turned into a 3.5mm audio input line. I had this on my old 4 cyl coupe a few years ago and it worked great.

Look up iSimple. Have their iPod adapter and it includes a secondary aux. Have an 04 accord v6 with nav.

I have a DICE audio in my 03 and it died a year ago, along with another DICE audio interface in my baby mommas 4runner. Next time I will only get USA SPEC.

Wow looking at the cost of the suggestions, it seems like I may be better off just adding an aftermarket single din radio to the car.

I had the USA-Spec (older one) ipod integration / aux worked great and could retain your steering wheel controls

No longer use that anymore since I've switched to a discrete deck

There Is so much out there USA spec seems very popular. I went with the GTA car kit. Has a iPhone charger and also play music while chargers with excellent quality. Also has a six cable as well, but it only plays from one speaker, never bothered returning it because I always use the iPhone connecter

I also had Dice in my old Accord and now our newer Accord. Both died after a year or two. Glad I only paid about $10 shipped from eBay for them.

What was the sound quality like on this one? Can you even still get the model you had?

I agree. I happen to like the upgraded stereo that came with my 6 speed. Plus it looks ghetto having an auxilary wire coming out of your iphone/ipod.

Not only that, iTunes to CD quality is better than what you get through an aux cable most of the time.

Agree. I used to have a stereo with an aux port on my old 6G, the CD quality vs my Iphone or other MP3 was like day/night.

Do you must have GPS Navi in order to have USA SPEC to work?
Mine doesn't equip with GPS Navi or XM (Satellite Radio).
I just need AUX, don't have any Apple Products

The USA Spec works without navi and XM. I have it in my car. Just find out which model you need from the USA SPEC site and find it for cheaper on Amazon or Ebay.

Not to thread bomb on your thread, but I'm in the process of putting an iPod in my 07 V6 navigation. I can't get that damn "not an ashtray " thing out. Any secrets of how to get them out? Anyone??

Its held in by clips but shouldnt be too hard to remove. I don't think it pulls straight up either, I believe it comes up slanted. Some trim removal tools would help too.

I had the USA spec one come with my car, but it just sucks. I feel like there is so much audio loss through it that at volume 40, it sounds like volume 20 with a cd.

Any good reviews of grom? I like the usb function.

I bought one similar to the PIE one, just straight AUX style. Drilled a hole in the center console and the wire fits under the lid without smushing it. Only problem I have is that it doesn't always pick up the "CDC".. Just have to check ignition in 2nd position and then it works.

I agree with CD quality, but my car has never been able to properly read burnt CDs (trust me, I've tried all sorts of qualities). So that is very annoying. My old MP3 player works just fine, especially after adjusting its custom EQ.

Bought the grom audio adapter years ago, it came with usb, ipod and mp3 inputs and i'd give it a 9.5 out of 10. The only issue seems to be that sometimes the volume for mp3 is too low so i have to press the button to switch to usb and then press it again to go back to mp3 and the volume sounds normal.

Haven't used my 6 cd player for over two years. CD's are obsolete in my opinion. I think new cars are gonna be coming out with flash drives, 3.5 mm aux inputs, bluetooth and no cd player.

Thought I'd throw in my two cents...the comment about iTunes to CD being better than Aux is exactly right. However the big reason for this comes down to one tiny thing (well two really). The internal DAC in the newer ipods isnt nearly as good as the DAC our stereo's have. Therefore if the choice is Aux or CD...go with CD. But if you have a kit the uses the lightning connector on the bottom of the ipod it SHOULD bypass the internal DAC and send a digital signal to the car stereo allowing the higher quality DAC to do the conversion resulting in higher quality reproduction. Anyone wanting to know what DAC is its a acronym for Digital to Anolog Converter.
