Powder coat GUNMETAL $?

Im planning to have my 18" rh-c3 wheels powder coated with gunmetal, fix the clear coat chips on the lip, some scratches, and polish it the lip. Any idea how much it would cost me? I was trying to trade them with 17"s 6 speed or 04 TL 17"s, but noone seems interested so i'll just keep them.

I had some rims powdercoated for $60 total, but I was hooked up for being in the military. Normally it's around $100 and not worth the money. If you take some sandpaper and sand down the clearcoat in the spots it's missing and then take scotch brite pads to the rest of the rim you can buy gunmetal wheel spray-paint and put a few coats on yourself and it will look just as good if not better than the powdercoat and when it chips you can just respray it. You can't do that with powdercoat. I'm saying this from experience. Spray paint them.

there are a lot of rocks flying up off other cars that you can't see or tell that you've hit with your rim until you stop and look at the huge chip missing from your rim. trust me, i know from my own rims that i had powdercoated. and i never curbed them either. they looked like a$$ by the time i got rid of the car.

i'd love to know where you got urs powdercoated for 60, even 100 total retail. when i had the tire shop that f'd up my wheels pay for powdercoating it was 140 PER WHEEL. i'm not sure if you were hosed and they didn't powdercoat them or what happened, but that sounds WAYYYYYYYYYY low...any anyhow, mine have been powdercoated gunmetal and i haven't had any problem at all with em, i love the look

I had mine done at a place that builds trailers. They did powdercoating too. Some friends of mine got their rims done there too and were charged like $100. Are you sure they charged you for regular powdercoating and not an HPC coating which IS more durable and more expensive than powdercoating? Anyway, it chips kinda the same way the original clearcoating chips on other rims. It happens. But with powdercoating, the only way to fix it is to strip the rim down to metal again and have the entire rim re-powdercoated. As opposed to just sanding a small area down and applying a little bit of spray paint. I'm just saying that from my experiences with powdercoating it's too expensive and too much of a PITA to bother with.
