greenish hue tint

i got 32% tint today on my black v6 coupe.. im kinda disappointed b/c the tint has a little hint of green rather than pure black.

the tinter said that this is b/c honda has OEM tint on its windows already.. does anyone kno how to get around this problem? if i retint with a darker tint (ie 23%), will the green hue go away? plz hel[p!

I am not sure that Honda has OEM tint. My V6 coupe has 35 % tint and I don't have greenish hue look on the windows. I could have been the tint that was used and/or the tinter.

I was under the impression that OEM is 30% tinted/ 70 % transmit. Now I don't remember where I got that info, so don't take it as 100% accurate.

I don't see why it would have a greenish tint even if there was OEM tint, at least no more green than it was before (less if anything), and I don't see any green in my windows (not tinted)

What do you mean by green? i have 30% all around and it depends on which tint you pick, I picked a greenish one cause i like it that way, it's actually more that very black green.

My tint has a green hue also... mine is 20% though. Remember-the color black is the combination of many colors (all actually) and they usually end up greenish or purpleish. The only time you can see the green is from the inside on mine. The outside looks black, but again, it is 20%. The car also doesn't help with the blue flecks in it. Also, the windows do have some tint, not very much, but still a little bit. So I couldn't tell you if the guy is lying or not...

hmm, when i got my car i had 35% from the factory, it wasnt green though, you could always just get them re-tinted, my windows are now 13% and theyre just black...looks good, if u re-tint, have someone do it who uses 3M, they dont fade purple like a lot of others do

are you sure the green tint isn't from that "other" type of tint- I forget what it's called but several people have it on here- it's not supposed to fade at all.

i think the tinter meant that honda use the type of glass that have a light green in it. check it out, for those w/ no aftermarket tint. look through it at an angle on a sunny or shaded area. have the window half way down and look at it.
you'll see the green compared to the plain view.

but i think the tinter is using that as an excuse. go get another opinion from a few other tint place.

Yeah that's the stuff I'm talking about- metallic tint doesn't fade but it has a greenish hue. Personally I'd take that over anything that's going to fade.

Agree that it sounds like an excuse

I would agree.. also figure out exactly which type of tint the tint shop used to begin with, you can look up the color of that film at this window tinting information site. It may have a green hint to begin with...

You can do searches for other window films that have a bluish, bronze, or even pure grey color using the TintCenter Tint Guide feature.
