anyone ever thought of doing it? or has anyone done it? just wondering

i did it on my 4-banger at it looks BEAUTIFUL. always looks wet, and a very subtle light to dark red fade throughout.

i have a tl engine cover ..it's black plastic basically, and thats what i was talking about when i was asking about painting it

Yea. And yea.

I had my engine cover, as well as my splash guards and oem fog light housings, painted Eternal Blue and clear coated (Dupont paint) by a local body shop. They wouldn't warranty the engine cover, due to it being in the engine bay, but that was fine with me. All the painted parts look great, imo.

I'll post some pics in the near future.

I really love the inspire cover.. tho i am just undecided if i should go for it because of the engine bay color i am going for.. i guess i can always paint it but how will that look? hmm.. black and silver are just sexy.......

chrome letters are jdm and came that way. mugen socks for the resevoirs. injen cai mugen oil cap and radiator cap. and of course the original mesh pedals. The sway bar is stock on the six-speed.

Since you asked..........

I'm not a fan of the Inspire engine cover. I prefer to actually be able to see the engine....... I think the cast aluminum intake looks good.

Props on the Mugen caps, and on the CAI too. Though, once again, I'm not a fan of socks on fluid covers.

if u wanna paint get some fiberglass resin and some 60 grit 120 grit and 220 grit sand paper....first scuff the plastic till is rough then apply the resin and hardener...try 2 coats...after that sand till smoothe wit the 60 then 120 then prime wit a primer / sealer and sand wit the 220 then paint 2 coats to be sure then wetsand then clear coat it then polish it will look like the paint on ure car...wit a better finish

As long as you put it back correctly its not problem. A member took it off to polish it chrome.

There's a gasket underneath you are supposed to replace. Also, the SM says there's a specific order to removing the bolts and when you replace them. I could scan the pages and email them to you if needed.
