Angry Horrible Stock Stereo

Does anyone get alot of static when trying to listen to their radio or even ipod in their car? Or is it just mine. I get static on about 3 out of my 6 channels. My old car never got static with these stations. Is there any mod i can do to help this or should I let Honda check it out? Thanks

As for static, are you listening to AM, FM, or XM. I have found the reception on Honda (and Acura) radios for AM and particularly FM to be very weak. Don't know if it's the radio's specs or just a poorly designed (or placed) antenna.

this is a fairly universal part i use for the ipod input, i have installed it on my 5th gen, my dads 02 CRV, an 02 stratus, 01 F-150. and an 05 pt cruiser convertible. i started off with the belkin fm transmitter, it sucks and messes up your ipod headphone jack. i got this box and the difference is night and day. you plug the cars antenna feed and plug this box into the headunit, give it a ground and 12v power supply. when you turn it on it cuts off the cars antenna and gives you an RCA audio input straight into the stereo, it sounds amazing and you can keep the stock stereo with it.

Yup our stock stereo is a piece of ****.

My iPod is perfect though, but that may be because I got the AUX port for it =)

How did you get the AUX port? Where/how does it hook up to the stock Accord stereo?

soundgate hond3 (think thats the part #) it hooks up to the bottom of your stock setup, through a special adapter. It is originally designed for the CD-changer function, but will work w/ anything that has a 3.5mm output i.e. ipod, mp3, satellite, etc....

as for me, i use a iCarPlay (pretty good FM Modulator)

I dont really get any static on it while i hear many complaining about the FM modulators made by apple. Maybe cuz mines 80 bux and those are 30-40. u get what u paid for

But thing is, if u are going to use a FM modulator, i find that you lose a lot of treble, so you'll have to crank it up in ur stereo settings and do TREBLE BOOST in ur ipod if you want clearer sound. Bass out of our stock stereo isn't that bad, prolly cuz our cars lose or w/e, rattles a lot. My friend once asked if I had subs in my car, all i had was stock system and I turned da song up a bit. I would say our system isn't too bad considering its only 120watts, iono if its RMS or max, but it sounds exceptional for da class of cars our accords are in. Not like we're driving BMWs or Lexus

Had much better reception in my GSR with its power mast type antenna. Mast type will beat out wires in the glass every time.

My FM reception is substandard as well. I also believe my location contributes to the problem. I'm between 3 different areas.
