OEM Fog wiring question?

I have the factory installed fogs on my accord and would like them to come on with my marker lights (only work now with headlights on). The dealer told me that it is wired this way so the bulb doesnt burn out. Is this true? How hard would it be to rewire them so I could use them both ways (with marker & headlights)????

Thanks for the help,

Brett

They are wired this way because the dealers have no choice in the matter. They are required by law to wire them this way. You may legally rewire them yourself though. I ran a tap of my "cigarette lighter" wire (only on with ignition) right to the switch in the dash. Now I can turn it on whenever I want as long as the key is on. When you look at the back of the switch there are 5 or 6 wires. I believe the one you want is green but may be blue. Both the green and blue wires are at one end of the bundle and the correct one is at the very end. The other 3-4 are white with varied coloered stripes. To be absolutely sure just plug a volt meter into each connection and see which one gets power with only the low beams on. That's the one. Since this is only a relay trigger you don't need to worry about the extra load on the lighter fuse.

Cheers,

Andy.
