Tinting Accord 7G windows/ problems and possibly new felt

Hey all....I was planning on getting my accord 7g front windows tinted but i have read a few posts that claim that the windows make stratches.......I was in the dealership the other day and asked them to look up the new 2005 lining and supposedly they said honda has a different part number..... I was wondering if anyone knew anything about it.....usually when they have a new part number the product is changed.....has honda found a solution to the felt problem in our windows???......anyone have any imput please leave a reply

its up to you, im not risking it. i had them line the doors with felt before hand just in case and havent had any problems. guy charged me an extra $25 to take the door apart and put it in, def worth it IMO, even if only for peace of mind purposes

Coincidentally I've been looking into this too. I've sent Hardtopguy a message as well. I was talking to my tint guy and told him my problem. He seemed to know what I was talking about before I even finished detailing my problems. He said a possible solution would be to get the window lining from a 6th Gen Accord and replace the current window lining. He said the newer gen cars have a hader plastic window trim that is scratching the tint. It's a shot in the dark, I know, but it's worth a try. I tried my local Honda dealership and of course, they were no help. They said the window lining was part of the whole door assembly and therefore they could not get that part. Anyways, I'm waiting to hear back from Joe about ordering the part. I will of course update with any news.

This is the first time I have heard of this problem I have an 04' sedan and I have tint on it. I lower my window everyday because i need to open my gate. I don't have any scratches that I know of. Have you guys considered getting a good brand of tint? Sometimes when you get the cheap tint, your tint will scratch very very easily. Could that be the problem you guys are facing, cheap tint?

I don't think that the tint quality is the culprit here. Numerous members have had this problem and surely we don't all have the same brand of tint. I have SunGard tint and I've never had the scratching problem on my past tinted vehicles.

Where can I get this felt at that people are talking about?

any tint shop can set you up with the felt

i think its just a prob with the coupes, but im not sure... specifically the passenger door, not so much the drivers side. i talked to my tint shop, and he knew what i was talking about and said that there are like 6-7 different new car models with the same problem

yeah.. i kinda didn't ask my tint guy bout it and now i have tiny lil bastard scratches in the tint on my driver's side window.. it kinda sux but you can't notice it on the outside- so i'll just have to deal wit it- don't feel like fighting with my tint guy and getting charged again. Okay, it's really just one very fine scratch but still, it ain't cool.

Mine's real bad on both sides.
Nearly cutting clean through the tint after a year.
Still can't really see it from the outside, but it bugs the hell outa me.

Just waiting till I have an "extra" $100 or so and maybe an idea about a fix before I get it redone.

Sux you guys are having problems... I've had my windows tinted since Nov 02 and don't have any scraches. Do the people having problems maybe live in dustier or maybe rainier areas? If you have alot of dirt or crap in the window wiper all the time it would cause that.

I just had both mine replaced cause the dealer got grease in them, and he mentioned that Honda had redesigned the inner wiper (I think)... not positive though.

Maybe use a razor to trim the part of the rubber that causes the scratches? At least that's what I am going to do.

Its should be lifetime warranty, they should change it and give you a new tint job. Eventhough I know this won't take the scratches out of your window.
